So surreal as a 15 year old in England. I got up at 6 in the morning to watch the PPV my Mum recorded, then immediately had to go to school just after his death being announced. That was one gloomy and surreal day.
Owen, along with Rock and HBK were the only heels I allowed myself to like in my mark days.

I miss Owen Hart too. Based on what various wrestlers said about him, he seems like a standup guy that believed that taking care of family was more important. He didn't take the business too seriously like so many others during his time.

It's been almost 20 years. Owen would be 52 today. And his kids are well into their 20's now. Good grief. And I'm sure he'd be pulling the same pranks on family & friends and making people laugh.

I didn't watch the PPV, I found out the next day at school. The problem was, the person who informed us was a bit of a bullshitter, so we weren't sure whether he was lying or if he just thought that a work was a shoot. When it got verified by more reliable sources (ie the nerds) we knew it was real The Raw tribute was tough to watch.

It must be hard for newer fans to understand how, not so long ago, wrestling fans could be kept unaware of a major incident for so long. If the Owen Hart incident happened today it would be virtually impossible to go half an hour before finding out the news.

That was one of the very few PPV's I missed that year (I also watched WCW and ECW PPV's). I remember being bummed. However, I still remember reading the results online and then finding a briefing about Owen Hart being in an accident at the PPV. I was unsure what the deal was, but I hoped that he was okay. I then read some more stuff as the night went on. I didn't find out about his death until my mom came to me while I was in bed and told me about the tragedy. I was shocked as hell. Being that I was known for being a wrestling fan at my school, a lot of guys asked me if I had heard about what happened.

I watched that awful (and I mean AWFUL) Jesse Ventura movie of the week on NBC. As soon as it was over, I rushed to the computer to see the results of Over the Edge. I can still remember that crushing feeling as I read that Owen, my favorite wrestler, had died. I can even remember going to school the next day and how sad and distracted I was.

I remember BEGGING my parents to order the PPV for me, but they just weren't having it. Then I woke up the next morning (a holiday in Canada, so I didn't have any school), and hearing the news on the radio. Absolutely crushing and heartbreaking, and it didn't even feel real at first. Even as I watched Raw that next night, the whole thing felt so surreal that I wasn't even fully connecting to it.
It's also weird to me that any kid who was born the day Owen died is now a legal adult.

Holy shit I forgot that was the same night, I had the same exact evening as you. I was 12 and even knew that movie was shit.

I missed the ppv due to a graduation party. Got home in time for the main event(I ordered anyway to watch the replay)and right away I could tell something was off. Jerry Lawler and JR just seemed off but I didn't yet know why. I watched the replay and at the beginning they were King and Good Ol JR. I kept thing "what the hell did I miss? Then it happened. Then when JR made the announcement, it absolutely gutted me. The next night I just couldn't bring myself to watch Raw

The real heartbreaking thing is that it's universally believed that he was retiring in the next few years.

I met Owen in 1998. He was walking around Mall of America in Minnesota with Mick Foley. Both were heels. I was a kid, and kind of scared to approach them, because they were "bad guys". I approached them, and both could have not been nicer. Got both autographs on the same paper.
Owen to me: "Am I gonna see you tonight? Me: "Yeah. I am going to the show. My first one." Owen: "I'll make it a special one."

Well I like to think that in my alternate universe

I still remember up until that day hating Owen Hart as a kid but the second I found out he died and that RAW tribute hit I was just sobbing for most of the show. To this day I'm not sure why it hit me so hard but damn one of the saddest nights of my life when I found out he died

Remember finding out the next day at school that a wrestler died (I was in 2nd grade), but I don't think I was told it was Owen until I got home and heard from either my mom or grandma.
It's still hard for me to watch Austin's appearance at the end of the tribute show and not get emotional.

I was watching the ppv live and thought it was an angle at first cause it wouldn't have shocked me.The ppv the month prior was built around something catastrophic would happen at the ppv or you'd get your money back(Stephanie got kidnapped) lucky for them they didn't do that storyline that month.
It's still hard to believe that one year later in the same building wcw ended a ppv by having Mike Awesome throw Kanyon off the triple cage onto the ramp breaking the ramp and his spine in storyline.

Watched it live and to this day I have no idea how the guys made it through the rest of the show.
Also: Mark Henry reading his poem and bawling his eyes out on Raw still breaks me down to this day.
