Well? Which one? Which of these films made you cringe even though they were all supposed to be for children?

I wouldn't call it a 'children's movie' per se, but how the hell is Raiders of the Lost Ark a PG?

I still get the creeps from Return to Oz. The room of heads, the statues, and man the wheelies, all terrifying. Labyrinth creeped me out too but Return to Oz was a whole different level of creeped out.

But was that actually a children's film? I thought it was supposed to be political/satire.

I'm starting to realize that I may have been a bit sheltered as a kid, because I've seriously never seen any of those movies.

The Dark Crystal and Labyrinth both creeped me out in parts but Return to Oz was overall creepy.

Even as a kid, I never thought of any of those as scary. Awesome to varying degrees, but not scary.

Willy Wonka just for that f***ing tunnel scene. This. Terrified me as a kid. It's even edited out of airings on family-oriented networks, it's that bad.

"Pinocchio and the Emperor of the Night" had some pretty disturbing moments.

I wouldn't call it a 'children's movie' per se, but how the hell is Raiders of the Lost Ark a PG? So was Jaws. A lot of flicks were back then. They actually had to submit both Jaws and Raiders for re-rating here when they were released on DVD. Both films retained their PG ratings. In fact they had to very hastily recall the original Jaws PG rated DVD because there is an outtake on the extras that contains Roy Scheider saying "f***". One use of that word automatically moves a film up to the 12 rating, so the use on an extra feature pushed the DVD to a 12 rating.

I wouldn't call it a 'children's movie' per se, but how the hell is Raiders of the Lost Ark a PG? PG-13 wouldn't come around till a few years later after Temple of Doom and Gremlins caused a backlash. So before that, if it wouldn't be deemed an R rating, it would be PG.

Out of those? The Witches. Not because of The Witches design either. I remember seeing the movie as a kid and being freaked out by the little girl moving around in the painting and aging.

"Pinocchio and the Emperor of the Night" had some pretty disturbing moments. It's even worse when you realize that film was made by Filmation, who, other than that, mostly made syrupy, moralistic cartoons (and yes, that includes He-Man and She-Ra).
