Can we pretend the last 11 years didn't happen? That is all.

Can we pretend the last 11 years didn't happen? That is all. The director of Bumblebee kinda wants to. He's an admitted G1 fanboy and hopes that Bumblebee can be the jumping-off point for a soft reboot. If Paramount want to get their Hasbro shared universe going, this movie could be a good place to start. It should make a small profit once it's out in China and Japan, so maybe give Cena's character a code name and spin him off into G.I. Joe or M.A.S.K. and go from there.

I'd probably just straight up make Cena Duke. Ignore those other two Joe movies as well and make whatever comes next a soft reboot as well.

I’ve only seen bits of pieces of a couple of the previous ‘Transformers’ movies, just because I was turned off by their designs, the million explosions and just didn’t give a shit about seeing them(I know they’re not what ‘Bumblee’ is). The great reviews, along with seeing a couple of pics of the G1 designs in this film made me super curious and I watched it today. Man, I really enjoyed it. It felt just like one of those 80’s-early 90’s flicks I love and until I saw the credits, I had no idea Spielberg was a producer on this. Makes a lot of sense. Lots of fun.

Saw this and Into the Spider-Verse in the same afternoon. Wasn't disappointed by either. I forgot Hailee Steinfield was in both movies, actually. Here, I was behind her more than probably all of the humans to show up in the Bay movies combined. See what happens when you cast someone likable and not so obviously a token sex symbol? Those first few minutes had me marking hard. Blocky G1-type Transformers won't work in live action my butt... THIS is the E.T. meets Transformers that the 2007 movie should have been. Not force feeding adult or stupid humor to the audiences, but just enough to be acceptable. The 'Cons here would have been better if WE KNEW WHAT TO CALL THEM. I don't think any Decepticon, or anyone besides Prime and Bee, was named for that matter. And minor {Spoiler} OMG they get to kill humans . I also think the Con called Blitzwing with Starscream's colors was just meant to be a generic Seeker. {Spoiler} Poor Cliffjumper....can't get a break lately. Would have been funny, considering Cena being there, if Dwayne voiced him again.... I guess being tied into the Bay movies, I shouldn't have expected much out of PCS {Spoiler} besides just seeing Prime with Bee. Would have liked to see Decepticons regroup. Or Cena in fact be revealed, as rumored, to be a member of a certain daring, highly trained special mission force, leading to a crossover most of us would like. Which would have led to another Rock cameo op, Rock and Cena meet again and all that...

Not for nothing, but Spielberg was a producer on all the other Transformers movies as well. Really? Had no clue. Yeah, back when the first movie was in production there was a lot of hype about how Spielberg was going to lend his magic touch to the story of a friendship between teenage kid and an alien robot. Then it became apparent Michael Bay was calling the shots...

I had a tear in my eye watching this.
*Sheer elation watching authentic G1 come to life. *John Cena was distracting. Not because I couldn't see him, but because the John Cena meme kept playing in my head everytime he was onscreen. *The girl and her car story was much, much better and heartfelt than Sam Whitwicky version. *I still think the 2007 movie had better robot renders than this film 11 years in. I don't mean design, but attention to detail like street light reflection on their car parts in robot mode, or Optimus Prime's chest plates having bug smearing and wiper marks.

I hope this means we get a direct sequel to Bumblebee set in the 90's. I want to see Hailee Steinfeld rocking a Rachel cut and John Cena dressed like one of the guys from Airheads.

Honestly, just give me 90 minutes of this. I watched that clip for the first time last night. All it made me do is want to play War and Fall of Cybertron. Those games got it right years ago.

Just got around to seeing Bumblebee. That was a damn fun movie, easily the best since the 2007 flick possibly the best yet.
