I caught an interview where Dan Akroyd said those that hated the movie and were vocals about it were white supremacists in their 60s(??!!!). Akroyd went into full schill mode in the lead up to the movie's release, since he stood to get a substantial paycheque out of it as one of the original creators of the franchise. Since its failure at the box office he's trashed both Paul Feig and the movie. These guys are actors in movies, I wished they weren't this way in real life. I mean money is great but they should carry some modesty.

Ackroyd's original vision for GB 3 sounded as terrible as the GB 3 they actually released. Way too much of his personal kooky beliefs were put into his intended concept.

aykroyd is also WAY into alien visitations. Dude's a lil kooky. Not to mention a lot of the Ghostbusters tech and terminology when talking about ghosts comes from his father who wrote a bunch of books on ghosts.

my only problem with this was Plinkets taking Bill Murray to task saying that the cast were funny. Hes right, they are very funny, just not in that movie.

I'm glad he points out that this falls on bill murray's shoulders.
He's the reason we never got a third movie. There's no defending Murray's bizarre/jerk personality that some people seem to think is charming.

There's no defending Murray's bizarre/jerk personality that some people seem to think is charming. The thing is, none of the cast even wanted to make the second movie. As far as they were concerned Ghostbusters was always supposed to be a one-and-done, and it was only because of the runaway success of the cartoon that they were coerced into making a sequel. And it showed. I still love Ghostbusters 2, but the drop off in quality is significant, and everybody was on autopilot during it. I can't hold Murray accountable for not wanting to make a third. They were middle aged in 1990, seeing them try to reprise the roles any time after 2000 would've been depressing.

Ghostbusters 2 is the reason I never cared if there was a Ghostbusters 3. The sequel was terrible.

I'd rather an animated Movie/TV show based on the comics than another live action attempt, Sure we won't get Bill Murray or the other Cast but I'm sure some voice actors can come close.
IF they do another live action movie then adapt "Extreme", Switch Egon for Ray and say Venkman moved away with Dana & Oscar (I bet Ernie Hudson could make a cameo as a relative of one of the recruits ala 2016).
Plus that show covers the progressive checklist (Female, Latino, Disabled, Black)

It isn't on the same level as the first Ghostbusters, but it could have been completely uninspired if it wanted to be. On its own merits it could be seen as a decent movie. You want a cash grab? Austin Powers in Goldmember or the Hangover Part 3.

I actually watched it tonight and it got a couple of small laughs. I will admit I laughed my head off once and that was at Kevin's first logo for the ghostbusters and also Bill Murray flying out the window was good
The rest of it? Eh. Way too much CGI and that big action scene at the end just seemed a tad much
I will admit though that a big part of the reason I was against it at the start was the cast, not because of their gender (Some of the names I seen mentioned like Emma Stone, Eliza Dushku I really would have liked to see) but because Kristen Wiig especially I didn't find funny, but they actually were alright just badly let down by the script

GB2 had a few fun parts, but it was a pretty big step down from the original.

Say what you will about him but C-Tates backing away from some Ghost Corps flick was a really good idea.
As someone who thought it didn't look funny from the get-go, when I watched it and after and had to endure countless of insults, accusations and stupid arguments this review was cathartic.
I also had no idea how improvised it was...it explains the strange waddling pacing and why a lot of the humor just fell flat on its face.

I put GB2 in the same breath as "Temple Of Doom", Decent movies but just happen to follow a classic film.

I want to know something. How often do fans who actually enjoyed this film get abused? Or even those who just thought it was an average at best or even just didn't think it was the worst thing ever? The only thing remotely close to getting abuse that I had received was when I was on IMDb and I had made a threat about people actually liking the film. Some guy actually give me some black about it. I get that some people didn't like it, but it's another thing when you clearly don't respect another person's opinion. Of course, in his words he said that you didn't respect any positive opinions of the film because he found nothing to enjoy about it. That didn't give him an excuse to act like such a dick about it, though.

I thought it was alright, but it wasn't without its major issues - namely, why did you create four roles, but only three characters? Kristen Wiig and Melissa McCarthy's characters were identical.
Kate McKinnon was great, though, and I liked Chris Hemsworth.
