I was just admiring a gif I saw on reddit of Harper hitting a brutal spinning lariat on Lesnar from that Lesnar squash of the Wyatts a couple years ago.
It made me think, what's the deal with his run? Help me explain this.
The guy is huge, extremely athletic and great in the ring. Has shown he can do character work well and doesn't embarrass himself on the mic. No one seems to have a bad word to say about him. He comes up plenty of times when WWE workers and legends discuss who is under-rated on the roster. He's a family man who speaks well and doesn't seem to get into any trouble.
Has there ever been any talk, rumor or otherwise about why he is not seen as a big time player? Even when they had the chance to really push him during that AJ/Orton triple threat angle, they seemingly gave up on him for no reason. The fans were actually getting behind him too, and Creative inexplicably dropped him from the not only the angle, but off the face of the earth it seems like.
Seriously, what the hell is going on?

I'd love to see a "serial killer" type of gimmick for Luke Harper. Obviously it would have to be PG, but something like a slasher flick villain that goes by "Harper."
He could hear voices and they could do corny things like have him appear in front of people and stuff like that. It seemed like Rowan was headed in that direction with some of those videos he was posting on his twitter/Instagram (forget which one).
He wouldn't even have to change his look...

Imo Brauuuuuuuuuun is a bigger, nastier version of Luke. But I like Luke. They should find a spot for him in the upper-mid card.

Yeah, I don't get it at all. He's great in ring, he can talk, and the fans were really digging him. I don't want to see him team with Rowan again, but if that's what it takes to get him back on my screen then so be it. #FREEHARPER!

Surely it has something weird to do with Vince.
I think that a good way to reintroduce him would be for him to answer a BRAUNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN open challenge and they just brawl all around the arena. BRAUNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN of course wins and then Harper can go to the IC level scene..well either that or give him a Rasputin gimmick and have him influencing Stephanie behind the scenes. Both ideas are dumb enough to actually work.

When Vince gives you a push with the Ic belt you better use the right accent.

I blame the Albatross of being associated with Bray for like 90% of his WWE Career.
Braun was moved away and kept away and it's done wonders for him... I mean they don't even bring up he was a member of the Wyatt family...

Harper SHOULD have been the modern day equivalent of Kane by now. He's got the size, talent, power, and an interesting look. He's another guy that's going to have to leave WWE to prove his value to them. I would LOVE to see him in New Japan.

There's no excuse for Baron Corbin having any kind of a push in a company that also employs Luke Harper.

I think it's residual damage from Bray Wyatt. He's the loser backup for the biggest loser in the WWE. No on ever expects the Bray Wyatt character to succeed in any of his endeavors, so his silent heavy is surely not much better off.
I never would have broke up the Wyatts. They were an act where you could always put someone in the backseat and focus on someone else, when Bray runs his course, put him in a more managerial position and have him get behind Harper for a while, then get Wyatt in front again after a time. Have them jump in the tag scene when they're needed. Luke, Bray, and Rowan apart come off like busted goods to me.

Vince was annoyed with him as he wanted a southern accent when he said "I'm a team player" and he felt it wasn't southern enough...Knowing vince he probably still has a grudge over it

The accent thing is especially weird because Vince never told him anything about an accent and Harper never had one in the Wyatt promos, but just randomly expected him to have something, and then yelled at him for not. It's a very blatant and very clear example of Vince being a f***ing nightmare boss nowadays, because now you have a guy with a lot going for him who can't even make television and who's just totally wasting away on the roster for no good reason.

The the funniest part about this though? If Harper actually gets a World Title Run somehow, he will in fact be a Triple Crown Champion. As unmemorable as they were he was a former IC Champion and freebirded the SD Live Tag Titles with Bray and Orton.
They really dropped the ball with him in that Bray/Orton thing, like the entire reason orton played a long con to get Harper out of the group was Harper was the reason Orton was losing against Bray. He was a severe threat. And man he should have been built like one, but he got backseated, despite how much the crowd was getting behind him, more so than they were Orton...
