www.youtube.com/watch?v=W2UH0ryTX7wEd Nordholm said this: Sonjah and Damore are handling booking/creative (says they are connected to the indy/japan scene). Hope JJ will come back. Had no idea when they took it that it would be this difficult Their goal is to make the wrestling company profitable, reduce costs They are not selling, they are investing. Both he and Meltzer agreed to they will have to spend more to grow revenues Global Wrestling Network(next week 7.99) has 900 hours of Impact but they want it to be the independant alternative to the WWE Network and bring others to the table(mentioned New Japan). In North America, Impact will be on the Network ten days after showing on Pop.

Did they ask," why is GFW making a stand alone Network? Doesn't Anthem already have a network? A network that you purchased Impact specifically to have as content for?"

Wait, was he suggesting that they would like a model like NJWorld, or that NJPW could be on their rinkydink network?
F*** outta here with this guy.

I don't think he knows much about New Japan.

Umm is he suggesting brining in NJPW because they have their own streaming service already
Also, yea if you thought wrestling was going to be easy than you obviously did no research what so ever on how much wrestling sells and who wants to see it

Damn I wanted to make a thread out of this haha.
I have to give some respect to Nordholm, he's past Dixie's delusion of being a major wrestling company, he admitted they're an Indy outfit.

Yeah, it does seem like they realise that there's not enough there to make a network solely of TNA footage, so would incorporate other companies to pad it out as a legit rival to the WWE Network.

Let's...uh...hoo boy... Who in their right mind would pay $8 a month for only Impact?! There's already NJWorld for New Japan, PowerbombTV for numerous Indies, in addition to the Indies with their own on-demand... Jesus...

I don't think he knows much about New Japan. Pretty much. The "new Japan" mention came off less as "they can work with us, sug!" and more "there's a recognizable name off the top of my head." As for the indies thing, I think there's a market for it. Powerbomb.tv seems to cater to smaller promotions, and Floslam is kind of a joke at this point.

I just don't get it. Why even try, they already have Fight Network as a streaming channel, why try to add a separate network for TNA footage? Just make it available on the FN channel! You're just dividing your market even further.

My other question is, when he says they have 900 hours of Impact, does that mean the company as a whole, or is the channel only going to have episodes of Impact, no PPVs, no weekly NWA-TNA weekly PPV footage, no FSN episodes?
If the latter...LOL!

New Japan...aren't they currently in agreement with Pro Wrestling NOAH? Isn't that why Eddie "Eddie Edwards" Edwards is their champion right now?

So some of his comments on the Network stuff just seemed so weird. Like some of it sounded like it was coming off the top of his head. But he also seemed to think that because their youtube channel has over 1 million subscribers, that will translate to buys for this Network. WWE's youtube channel has 17 million subscribers. The last numbers I've seen for the WWE Network is that they've got about 1.6 million subscribers. It's a 15 million person difference. GFW's youtube channel last I checked actually has about 985,000 subscribers. Ed Nordholm seems sure that a large number of those subscribers will buy their Network. He is putting faith in a collection of fans who have NEVER paid for anything this company has done. Literally, it is part of Impact's history that their fans do not pay for the product. They don't pay to get in to watch Impact be filmed. Even at the company's hottest, the fans didn't buy their PPVs, they don't pay to go see Impact live, even the merchandise is bought at fire sale prices! Mind you, I am just using his youtube statement, but using that WWE's got about 1% of their subscriber base to buy their Network. Based on Impact's history, that will be what, 500 buyers?
Also, keep this in mind, WWE needed at least 1 million subscribers just to break even on the Network. No profit, just cover the expense. I think they also had to hit that number within something like 12-18 months to avert major disaster. What do we think Anthem is going to have to hit subscriber wise to cover the cost of this Network? I understand the idea of having to spend money to make money, but you have to do so smartly and this feels like Anthem throwing a giant bucket of Josh's money into a wood chipper.
Really too, Anthem is blowing a potential big opportunity. They could just channel everything into the Fight Network app and make that the combat sports alternative. Not happy with UFC Fight Pass? Get the Fight Network and watch some other great MMA action! Sick of paying $100 for a boxing PPV or buying Showtime? Get the Fight Network! Want to see some amazing unsung wrestling and see the brightest stars of the future? Get the Fight Network! Anthem literally has an opportunity staring them in the face and they are pissing it down their leg to try and compete with WWE which has ALWAYS failed Impact! Those who fail to learn from history, are doomed to repeat it. That should be on the damn company's masthead!
