Nah, first, MK (and other fighting games) have become "I'm better as a spectactor than a player" deals to me. Where as DK I can play competently. Second, the Genesis MK was really a mess when you take away the fact that it was the one with the Fatalities. When I got to play it at my cousin's (I had both 16-bit systems but my dad would not let me get an uncensored MK game), I remember being like, "Oh cool, the fatalities...but why's the same song playing throughout? Why's the voice samples so fewer and barely audible? Why's it look so...washed out? And so forth and so on.

Man I love the Mortal Kombat Genesis soundtrack.
I was actually disappointed when I learned the Arcade OST wasn't a better sounding version of the Sega music.

actually preferred the SNES version It played better because you didn't have to contend with only three buttons on the Genesis controller, but the removed blood made it get outsold since it was a sacrifice a lot of players were willing to make. |

I will admit to one thing that shockingly the master system ports of Mortal Kombat 1 and 2 were actually decent and playable.

actually preferred the SNES version Same. I didn't about the blood issue and the gameplay between the two versions was more or less identical, but the far inferior graphics and sound of the Sega port coupled with the SNES' controller being much more suited to fighting games left me only one version worth playing. |

I'd barely qualify anything Pre MK 9 as a fighting game. The uniform movesets of the originals have long since been commented on, but the mechanics of MK4-through-MKvsDKC were bungled to such an extend you'd have sworn the dev team made a fighting game from 4th hand info they'd heard through whispers on a busy highway after a stiff night of drinking. The Konquest/God of War extra-lite mode in Armageddon was surprisingly fun, though.
