The only way this will bother me is if it ends up like Booker T/HHH at WM 19. Nakamura has to win.

If WWE uses Nakamura to put over Jinder Freaking Mahal, you can probably kiss signing any major Japanese stars for a while. This would go down as one of the company's bigger mistakes of the 2000's.

And the weird thing about that would be that they used clean wins over Cena and Orton to put over Nakamura for that purpose.

Was the promo racist? Absolutely. However, his whole gimmick right now is that he feels that the crowd is against him for the way that he looks. So basically it makes him look like a total hypocrite, which is what a heel is supposed to be. Sometimes you go for the cheap heat.

I wonder if future live crowds are going to continue not having this or if it'll even back out to heel heat.

I do understand that, especially with a guy who does have limited choices for heat. But I still feel like it was too lazy. I'd probably just have Jinder gloat endlessly about the belt & literally rub it against Shinsuke's face by pointing out that, by hook or by crook, he will keep the title at all costs. I'm suggesting this because Shinsuke is not a wrestler built for personal feuds.

Next couple of shows won't be in smark cities for Smackdown, to my knowledge, with the possible exception of Detroit (HIAC). They might get away with general heat because mark towns (or any town that WWE only mentions the arena name) & cities don't think too deep and just take what they get.

Oakland was unusually vocal even for the 205Live segments they were very into even the most yawn-inducing promos (Jinder's first half of the promo with the ridiculous repeated gag of Nak's picture) it's seemed like the "That's Too Far" chant was a smark-induced chant to kinda put Oakland's stamp on the show and boy did it ever.
I doubt most people were actually offended by Jinder's words, I even heard a few chuckles when Jinder said he would say more controversial things... in Punjabi!! For the most part I think if people were actually offended you'd get loud boos (like how they treat Roman Reigns and Big Casshole) and go away heat not a kinda jocular chant that everyone is smiling and laughing as they join in against the heel. Jinder did his job and he did it well for perhaps one of the first times in his title reign.

It says something that this segment is the one that gets a full write-up in the Washington Post and doesn't even have a video on WWE's YouTube page (all the other segments on this week's SD Live were posted).

Jinser offends me because in a show with Nakamura, AJ and Kevin Owned this wrestling sleeping pill is the champ. I know he's not everyone's favorite person, but I'd rather Dolph Ziggler be champ than Jinder.

This weird recurring trend of people insisting nobody is actually sincerely objecting to the Jinder thing is so goddamn weird to me. Why are we all suddenly mind readers now? "They cheered for cruiserweights so they were probably only disliking racism to be ironic and samrky"? Seriously?

But yea, it DOES seem like I'm trying to be a mind-reader if you go ahead and edit out that second paragraph when quoting me, by golly!

I didn't cut it out to ignore those parts, I cut it out because that wasn't really the part I was addressing. Nothing about that really came off as super jocular to me, and sitting there with headphones on while I watched, I heard boos, heard jeers, heard plenty of people not super happy about the whole thing. I'd think an outright, actual straight wall of booing from the crowd might be a bit more "participation-ey" than actually saying 'No, too much, back it up'. Like it's still mind reading to assume the intent of the chant was smarks being smarky just because you heard some laughing. Scream some real racist joke shit in a crowd of thousands and you'll get a few snickers, yeah. Doesn't mean that didn't bother someone who isn't laughing?
