I have this fear that somehow, this was a reaction to a certain other news story that just resolved out of Vegas, one way or the other. Or somehow in this person's mind. Just seems eerie this should happen after the release. Or the usual, sympathizer of some sort, etc. etc. Vegas is one of my second homes, I've had many good times there. So did my family...including when my late dad took us there. I think your close but not correct, I think this has something to do with a future trial given where he’s from. Or he'll be one who claims he had some connection, no matter if it's true or not. Not to cross one of our lines, but it's stuff like this, as well as the incurable division, that makes me want to give up on America for good and go elsewhere. But as some people said, other places are MORE wacked out.

The people affected by this terrorist attack are in my thoughts. My stomach dropped the second I heard the news, and it hasn’t settled since. I can’t imagine how terrifying it must have been to be in that situation. I hope we don’t lose any more lives, and that the families of those we already lost can find peace.
I was thoroughly disgusted by the people who searched through the shooter’s roommate’s Facebook page, found someone with the same last name, and decided to plaster his name and face all over the internet saying he was the shooter. I even saw someone with a verified account doing it, so I made sure to mark her account so I could come back to it later to see what the reaction would be if that gentleman wasn’t the shooter... and nothing. No apology, no removal of the tweets... just saying “well he was in photos with her.” People set out to try and and demonize this guy because of his Facebook likes, and even though he was completely innocent, his name and face are associated with this terrorism. I hope there’s some legal action he can take against some of the websites that defamed him.

Let's just clear our heads on the definition of terrorism. Most important are the people who died and those who are affected.

I hope there’s some legal action he can take against some of the websites that defamed him. He can take screencaps and sue for defamation of character and slander, especially since there was no retraction or apology.

Unless you're working with a law enforcement agency privately don't release shit to the public. Just like how Reddit wrongly identified The Boston Bombers or Spike Lee Wrongly Tweeting out George Zimmerman's address. Let the real law enforcement agency do the real detective work. If you think you have helpful information then give it to the cops and not post it on the internet. Edit: The couple whose address was given out by Spike Lee is sueing Spike Lee for damages.

Condolences to the victims. Am I I the only who's slightly relieved it doesn't look like ISIS had anything to do with this one?

My buddy Shaun told me that his friend's mom and his other friend's sister were at the festival. They texted him to tell them that they're okay, though.

This is sickening.
The two worst shootings have now occurred at a nightclub and a concert. That is ridiculous and sad. You have to have your head on a swivel while having fun.

What's sad is no one will probably learn anything, the country will stay incurably divided, then the next one happens and we're sad for a moment then the cycle begins again. Heck, with 9/11 itself, that happened. Seems like that was when I started to notice the 21st century division in the States for the first time, really. EDIT: I just remembered...my brother and his friends are in Arizona now. It's not Vegas but one state away. I wonder how things are closer to there?

It is the perfect blueprint for mass casualties. Lots of (possibly intoxicated) people, dark, few exits. See also the French terrorist attack at La Bataclan (130 dead) In this case there was the vantage point from above, like the University of Texas shooting amplified.

So tragic. I learned about this last night, and t haunted me going to sleep. Brother of the the perpetrator says he has no idea and saw no clues as to why his brother would do this. Just a tragic incident.

It feels like every day we wake up here in the USA, were at risk of being murdered in a massacre. Makes me wanna hide in my house and never come back outside It's not even just the US or Europe. There was a terrorist that happened here in my city two days ago with the good news 2 out of the 4 victims have been released out of the hospital with the other 2 in reportedly in stable condition. Shit I remember it was big news two years ago a terrorist group had West Edmonton Mall as a possible place of interest to create attack, reports of terrorists trying to blow up the pipelines, and a high ranking member of Al Qaeda who was on FBI's most wanted list was found hiding here for years a couple a years ago. I feel like it's a matter of time there would be a major attack here with North America's biggest shopping mall and North America's world's biggest oil reserve. But my point is besides that we are still living in the most peaceful times in human history. It is scary that these isolated incidents can occur but at least there's no major wars happening here nor it was violent as the 80's/90's crack epidemic. Besides we are lucky to be living in peaceful first world countries and not in a war torn Country. I drive everyday and spend at least 45 mins everyday driving and my city has some of the highest drunk driving rates in Canada. I've lost friends and known more people who died from not at fault car accidents then mass shootings/stabbings/terrorist attacks. But I still drive. RIP to all the people in Las Vegas. This is just absolutely sickening and sad. That's one "advantage"(if you want to call it that) I've got to living up here, despite all the oil production here is that 1. We're small and 2. We're isolated as f***.

Those poor people. I don't know what to say. RIP to them, and thought and prayer to their families, and also to the survivors.

At least when it's Islamic terrorist related you know there is some twisted ideology used to legitimise their actions. The fact that somebody has just snap without any warning or fanaticism to shoot over 500 people is actually a more terrifying thought.

I never understand this. I can't. I have to have a serious personal dislike of someone just to want to punch them. PUNCH. I could never punch a total stranger. How can someone kill a stranger, let alone so many? None of these people did anything to him. How can you be so cold? Those poor people.

Video is years old but still as relevant today Yeah, I hate everything about the way the media reports these things. Don't give the shooter the satisfaction of his name and face being plastered all over the screens for months. If they stopped glorifying the shooters and just said "Some jerk shot up a school, here's the victims, the killer is beneath recognition" half of the potential shooters wouldn't bother. And they don't even do due diligence either. Remember the one where the shooter stole his brother's wallet, so they looked up the first "Ryan Lanza" on Facebook, found the wrong one and plastered his photo on the news as prime suspect?
