While these aren't actual Nerd videos, James delves into the legend of Polybius.
Day 1
Day 2
I guess its fitting since its Halloween season, and Polybius is one of gamings greatest mysteries/hoaxes. Nevertheless I found it pretty entertaining.
Day 3
Now its getting weird lol.

I tried watching a video of someone who recreated this game and I had a nightmare for two days straight. I'm not kidding.

They're fun videos. James has a knack for doing horror style videos like his Mr Bucket Board James one.
I assume there's going to be more of these? So yeah, I look forward to them.

I've liked it so far. I do like some of his more...uncomfortable...material. It doesn't have the absurdity aspect of it yet (unlike the Mr. Bucket saga), but being a fan of older games and stuff like this, I'm digging it.
I debated doing a Polybius article for my blog on April Fools where I posted a review of it, or writing about it this Halloween, but then I snagged a copy of "Zombies Ate My Neighbors" and...I'm gonna stick to that.

Annoying that he doesn't show the game. If we wants it to look like it's real then he needed to show video footage of the game screen itself from time to time.

This is like the Blair Witch Project...only better acted, better scripted, more convincing, more creepy and more interesting.

Annoying that he doesn't show the game. If we wants it to look like it's real then he needed to show video footage of the game screen itself from time to time. They do show a few seconds in the newest version. And actually, from what I saw it's pretty close to what many mockups of the game claim. I'm in the camp of Polybius all being bullshit (especially since the earliest evidence of such a game ever being mentioned in any form of the public was a message board post around 2000), but they went pretty far to make it appear legit. The side panels bother me a little (almost everything I've read claimed the box was straight black, that other than the Polybius banner the company made zero effort when it came to the visual design of the cabinet), and I feel like if I sat down and really thought about it I could recall what games those sounds come from (I think they're going for a mishmash, but that looping "wave" melody is from something, I know). But as far as just the game itself, it's pretty much in-line to what people believe might be it. Plus it's possible this machine is a fanmade interpretation based off the stories/claims of what Polybius actually is. Those really are out there, but unfortunately those often fall into the hands of people who can't help getting greedy and try to pass it off as legit. Is this on the Cinemassacre channel? Did not show up in my subscription list. This is on the Cinemassacre Plays channel. Mike will stream on there sometimes, but I don't feel like he's too amazing at that when he's got nobody to work off of. Though what is neat is he sometimes posts old DVD exclusives and some of his guest work material (like his mini-reviews that play during Pat the NES Punk's NES marathons) as well as select sections from older reviews (such as Ghostbusters on the Genesis or the "B-17 Bomber" segment of his Intellivision review). It stuns me this isn't on the main channel (maybe he's getting to it later?) because I'm really digging this and it's not getting much in the way of views compared to what it would do on the main channel.

I was wondering why he was doing this as The nerd instead of just James. The more I watched, the more obvious that this leading to a fun board-james style wackiness. Got some fun meta pseudo documentary thing going on. Not quite American vandal level quality but almost believed he was serious at first.

I watched the AVGN video and the hour long doc posted in this thread during my "middle of the night let me see if I can creep myself out" mood.
It would have been successful if I didn't start messing around on Instagram. But I thoroughly enjoyed both videos. That documentary was well put together. Reminds me of when I try to look stuff up on the internet that I know I've found before that disappeared. I may dig into that usenet content that Google groups have archived.

Not gonna lie. Those jump scares got me a bit. XD This was well done, and could pass off as straight up horror(if the character wasn't the nerd).
