Hot take: 2000-01 Kurt Angle would have been a great Captain "Shazam!" Marvel.

Haven't seen it yet....without being too spoiler heavy, do they:
1) Address the name change elephant in the room in any way?
2) Just as important...have him say Holy Moley? ;-)

No, though they wink at it with Freddy constantly call him other names.
Literally the first words outta Billy's mouth.

He's the Captain Marvel I'd prefer killing Thanos.

Saw this last night and I loved it. Easily the best DC movie since the Dark Knight trilogy. Looks like DC is finally getting their act together. Zachary Levi gave a great performance. {Spoiler}{SPOILER: CLICK TO SHOW} Jack Dylan Grazer was great as Freddie especially when he blasts Billy/Shazam for wasting his gifts. I also loved Meagan Good's performance as a Superpowered adult with the mind of an 8 year old girl. When the rest of Billy's family got powers I marked out. I don't read many comics but I knew about the Marvel Family. I just didn't expect it to happen in this movie. Also loved the scene where Dr. Sivana is monologuing and Shazam is like "I CAN'T HEAR YOU! YOU'RE LIKE A MILE AWAY!" Also loved how he beats Sivana by trash talking Envy. That's using the old Wisdom of Solomon. One minor nitpick, I think Billy transformed in public too much. I know there was a lot of chaos going on but someone's going to see that. Would have loved to see Billy try to go by Captain Marvel only to be informed that that name is copyrighted. I do wonder how they're going to address the name thing going forward. They can't use The Marvel Family and can't say Shazam without changing back.

He's the Captain Marvel I'd prefer killing Thanos. I still want the one to do Thanos in to be the one who did it in the comics. {Spoiler}{SPOILER: CLICK TO SHOW}Nebula, after every indignity and torture he's put her through, and her being the living person with the most he's taken from, and the one he is the most likely to overlook and underestimate.

Haven't seen it yet....without being too spoiler heavy, do they: 1) Address the name change elephant in the room in any way? 2) Just as important...have him say Holy Moley? ;-) 1) they acknowledge it by way of Freddy coming up with a series of increasingly awful code names without ever actually using "Captain Marvel". 2) yes Just got back from the theater. Me and my mom both loved it.

really liked the movie overall. but I thought it started REALLY slow... {Spoiler}{Spoiler} I'm not entirely sure they needed to show Doc going to the Wizard himself... it kinda took away from when Billy goes since we know what the hell is happening at this point.
Having Doc interrupt the interview like he did as his introduction might be better... maybe flash back later to him in the rock of eternity showing him failing to setup the eye...
Once it got going it got going and was great... as above I did not expect {Spoiler}{Spoiler} Captain Marvel Jr, and Mary Marvel... and the others <_< in this movie... but was really cool to see.. to get around the thing about not being able to say his name they added a caveat that Billy needed to mean to be calling down the powers in the comics... not that he just can't say it period. and now a few of my thoughts... {Spoiler}{Spoiler} HOLY SHIT MISTER MIND! HOLY SHIT THEY KEPT HIM AS A TINY WORM THING! when they showed him in the Rock of Eternity.
and at the end credit sequence...
HOLY SHIT HE'S GOT HIS LITTLE RADIO AROUND HIS NECK!
I really did not expect either of that... kinda disappointed they didn't go with Smug worm but the newer caterpiller form is fine movie was a really good time... and I loved a lot of the references to other DC characters basically everywhere... including the names Freddy gives the Big Red Cheese... (though why was that not one of Freddy's suggestions!? they used Captain Thunder which was one of his original names... and what DC thought about changing the character name too for New 52.) other than the first half being slow the thing that did kinda bother me mostly in a nerdy kinda way was... that was not Doctor Siviana, it was basically an entirely new character that they slapped his name on... from what I remember even the New 52 version of him just had lightning powers not {Spoiler}{Spoiler}the deadly seven sins matrix power and again... when they finally have Black Adam vs. Shazam! it's gonna feel a bit old hat because they already had him fight someone that was basically an evil version of himself. (granted he'd have to beat him a different way) final thoughts: no Tawky Tawny literally unwatchable! seriously I did like the Tiger Motiff going throughout even if he isn't involved

I’m going to love The Rock as Black Adam being added to this universe.

Saw it last night, and thought it was a lot of fun.
Anybody else thought they pushed the boundaries of Pg-13 in some parts? The head bite actually showed more than in Venom. The office scene in general.

The office scene in general. It wasn't gory or bloody though... which is what would push it more than just the act. Also apparently the {Spoiler}Seven Deadly Sins were inspired by the Terror Dogs from Ghostbusters... and I can kinda see it

I caught it over the weekend. It was fine, granted I had no prior knowledge of the source material, but I also thought it ran a little too long for its own good. If they could have shaved 30 minutes off of it by cutting a few things here and there and maybe reigning in that final battle scene by a few minutes, it would have been a tighter and better movie.
But for DC it's a success on the fact that I remember or cared about a single thing I saw on screen, which is more than I can say for Suicide Squad, Justice League, or Batman v. Superman.
