One day, Disney will own the entire planet.
That will be a very dark day.

Disney running the planet can't be any worse than the oil companies, defence contractors and financial institutions that run it now.

With the deal they got Fox Studios in Sydney .. So Disney now has a presence in Australia.
Wonder if they will change it to a Disney studio or keep it as is.
Looks like not just Fox movies are made there. They lease it out to other studios. Looking at Wikipedia though I don’t think Disney have used the facilities.
Fox Studios Australia have quite a history The Matrix, two Stars Wars prequels, Superman Returns, Dark City, Moulon Rouge, Mission Impossible 2 and who could forget the old favourite The Great Australian Spelling Bee and more have been filmed there.

Okay, so beyond the Marvel stuff (and the rights to the original Star Wars), what all did Disney get in this in regards to properties that are still highly exploitable?
- The Simpsons (but not Futurama) - Ice Age - Aliens - X-Files - Predator - Planet of the Apes - Do they get King of the Hill and Family Guy too? - Older franchises like Home Alone, MASH and Die Hard, which aren't really going to revenue leaders again anytime soon

The recent Die Hard movie flopped, the last Home Alone was an atrocious straight to video film, and nobody is clamoring for a revival of M*A*S*H (even After M*A*S*H flopped, and that was just after the original ended). I can see King of the Hill, but they won't do anything with it, given its reputation as a show that was just "there" for over a decade. And I can see Seth MacFarlane move Family Guy to Time Warner since that's a property Disney does NOT want. Ice Age is too played out & clearly has a Land Before Time reputation of too many sequels. You see one Scrat skit, you've seen them all. The only IPs you mentioned of value in the short term are The Simpsons (provided a total rehabilitation that starts with removing Al Jean entirely, or ending the series and "rebooting" it), Planet of the Apes, and Alien.

It's still going. Ice Age would be the perfect direct-to-video fodder they could do to compete with that and we've already seen Disney is more than willing to turn certain properties into never-ending DTV franchises (e.g. Disney Fairies/Tinker Bell). Throw the quartet into some new half-baked hour-long adventure, pad it out with 7 minutes of Scrat being Scrat and boom.

I feel like the biggest gain they get from The Simpsons is that they can use it to promote their streaming service when it launches. The classic episodes have never been available to stream, so by promoting the full series available to stream, that a big incentive for people to sign up.

The recent Die Hard movie flopped It actually made over three times its budget, just the thing is word of mouth on the thing was so bad that it basically killed any goodwill a sequel might have.

No surprise but looks like the X-23 movie will be dropped Mich as I liked the character, I wasn't desperate to see her get her own movie.
