Would you mind expanding on your comment about the benefits to new technology, because I don't quite follow. How exactly does taking up the cable TV model lead towards benefit for technological advancement? I'd more assume where distribution deals were to become norm through streaming packages, the competitive structure is essentially restrained when compared to an equal and open internet market structure. What encourages development, and what makes you confident that this wouldn't stagnate the medium similarly to how cable TV has been for the past 10 or so years? The big reason is the fact that...as said before. Cable companies, by and large, are also the ISPs in this instance, and they don't want cord cutters. However, at the same time, there's so many streaming services and subscriptions available that, as it stands now, streaming is going to be an a la carte version of cable, at best. You may not spend $100 on cable networks you don't use anymore, but you probably will be spending that $100, or more, on streaming services- not counting your Internet connection. It's not much of a difference to the consumer as it is. By this law, all it does is rolls Net Neutrality back to the standards it had in 2015, and fixes one small glitch in the Net Neutrality law that made it illegal for cable companies to offer subscriptions to streaming services with their services. As it stands, all that is dead is the days of video on demand, since now there's no use for it- if your cable company wanted to offer WWE 24/7, now you can offer the WWE Network. Your cable company wanted to offer Anime Network, now they can offer Crunchyroll. If anything, keeping this loophole for Net Neutrality is propping up a dead service of cable companies in video on demand, not hindering a future service in streaming. That's what this law allows. ABSOLUTE WORST CASE SCENARIO, and by worst case scenario I mean "Dystopia Scenario" here, goodbye Sling and Playstation TV. Likewise, the cable packaging for streaming services is not a bad thing itself- again, VRV is the example. Instead of paying $100+ for the channels on VRV as separate entities, you're paying $10 a month for them and getting 12 channels. It's more likely we see more connections like that. That's where the cable packaging is a good thing for it- it'll allow cable companies to do it. Yes, maybe Comcast will offer Hulu for free, but Comcast DOES NOT HAVE THE POWER TO THROTTLE NON-HULU SITES. Granted, this is a YET, but that's why the fight needs to continue from hereon out. The law does not completely end Net Neutrality. It does not allow a cable company to throttle your services yet. I cannot stress those things enough. It is a bad sign, and it's a sign that if you give them this inch, one day they WILL take a mile- but THE FIGHT IS STILL GOING ON TO KEEP THEM FROM TAKING THIS MILE. Thanks for the elaboration. I see better where you're coming from.

He's basically that Martin Skriririrkrikri pharmacy dude turned up to 11 Roman Reigns would get unanimous face cheers if he speared that FCC guy. I'd buy all of the Roman Reigns shirts if that happened. Especially if it wasn't in a wrestling ring.

Is there anyone out there that truly believes that people's fears are unfounded and this won't be abused. What possible evidence can be given to bring reasonable doubt to that suspicion? Is there some case where Comcast was given a resource that could be used to take advantage of customers, and they resisted the temptation? I've never seen it.

That is definitely something that'll get brought up when the court cases begin.

"Bot that stole Americans' identities to post anti-Net Neutrality comments used Barack Obama's name and address to post anti-Obama comment" t.co/J7D4ZPD5T5Well this got worse. Also please note that whichever moron used this name and address database still had the Obamas living at 1600 Penn in May this year.

I have a feeling that game companies will have to make EXpansion pack discs now
Edit: this may be the wake up call Nintendo needs to order game companies to make up to 164 GB cartridges (depending on game size) for the switch. I have a feeling that video game companies start putting out updated bug fix versions of games.

I'm pretty sure impersonating and trying to use the influence of a former President is a great way to wind up in jail

The more fraudulent comments that get revealed, the more it's not gonna end well for Ajit Pai and his cronies.

The people in charge here are such smug douchebags. It's actually unbelievable.
I so hope congress actually respects us for once and does what WE want. Not what their bribe payers want. I would just love to rub that in Ajit Pai's punchable face.
I hate him. The more I see of him, the more I despise him. Karma don't fail me now.

I can't understand how every citizen isn't outraged about this. This isn't even a partisan issue, it's robbing the people of the world's knowledge, and unless you stand to make money off of ISPs, there's no upside.

The overwhelming majority of people on both sides of the aisle are outraged over this, to be fair. Only people who aren't are people who either don't understand how the internet works, make a lot of money from Big Telecom, or are gullible/stubborn enough to believe the lies being spewed by those who are in Big Telecom's sphere of influence.

I want to try to avoid being too political here, but looking at poling numbers for all the things they have worked on this year, to expect this of them is naive. The only saving grace for net neutrality is that some big money players are also on our side and those are the only people who seem to matter.

One thing that I'm kinda surprised hasn't been brought up yet, and that's how this may affect the WWE Network.

The fact that ISPs forged public comments isn't a shock, but how brazenly and stupidly they did it is. It isn't criminal (but is a big civil violation on this level), but is easy cause for the invalidation of the FCC's decision when the case goes to trial if they're able to prove that the FCC knew about the issue.
