Or on the way to the ring. Just watched Starrcade 97 and Raven wore a Dinosaur Jr shirt to the ring. I miss that kind of thing.

It’s a fairly well known property, he wore it on national TV, and I can’t imagine Neil Gaiman or DC gave them permission....

They were small enough to get away with it.

Come to think of it they were still using popular songs for entrances when they were on TNN. There may not have been a lot of money to be made but I’m kind of surprised a corporate lawyer at one of the labels wasn’t knocking on the door asking for their cut.

I missed those button down specially made shirts that were unbuttoned The Rock used to wear. I remember WWF magazine did an article about them.

I miss wrestlers wearing clothes in general. Austin had his jorts and boots and camo hat. Rock had the $500 shirts. Edge & Christian had their clothes. HHH had his jeans, leather jacket and biker hat.
Now it's nothing but wrestlers wearing their own t-shirts. They can't even show personality in their clothes. They're always in their gear, even if they're not wrestling.
And what is up with everyone wearing jackets to the ring? Is that the only piece of "flair" that's allowed now?
Finn, AJ, Miz, Dean, Bayley, Sasha, Becky, Paige, Gallows, Charlotte, Roode, Asuka, etc. They all have robes or jackets. My god, get some variety.

I liked that kind of stuff, it added a sense of realism. Same with guys who wore just street clothes.

Do WWE stars still have to wear suits to the arena? I think they did away that, but jeesh. Nothing better than seeing a monstrous character with a nice tie.

Elias wore a Johnny Cash shirt on Raw 25 so maybe they're a little more lax on it now. I remember all of the free advertising WWE gave to South Park during the Attitude Era.

You are either allowed to wear the tap out gear or a suit I believe on the planes but you have to come to the arena in a suit if i'm not mistaken They might let them come into the arena in just the tap out gear now as well Finn has talked about before that he brings 2 suits to the arena, one for regular wear and one he can bump in

Probably because there's nothing illegal about wearing a shirt you bought with your own money. I also can't imagine Neil Gaiman is the sort to flip out over something so trivial. Free promotion is never a bad thing.

It was blurred out pretty much but Raven even wore that Sandman shirt in WCW/NWO Revenge.

I remember The Wall coming out with a System of a Down shirt that I also owned when he was in MIA. That made me a fan of his for a little while.
