If he came to my town I'd attend. Saw the Pumpkins when Oceania came out and thought he was great, I've followed Corgan ever since the good old days, lot of hit or miss but he's a unique voice and I love eclectic rock stars.

He needs to follow the blueprint of this cinematic masterpiece:
How can he pull it off without Capt Lou and Roddy Piper?

He needs to follow the blueprint of this cinematic masterpiece:
"A genuinely funny film" has to be the most generic critic line I've ever seen.

I like the Pumpkins well enough... but at the same time Billy Corgan is a massive douche. He needs to follow the blueprint of this cinematic masterpiece:
"A genuinely funny film" has to be the most generic critic line I've ever seen. That was my exact thought.

Smashing Pumpkins are one of those bands thats cool at the time, but doesn't hold up anymore. Nine Inch Nails, Guns N Roses, Pearl Jam etc all still seem "cool" by todays standards. But there's some weird element about the Pumpkins that causes me to not care. Gotta disagree on that one profoundly. I’m about a decade shy of 40 and I think their old stuff still holds up really well. Plenty of metal and hardcore bands still cover their tunes so they’re a clear influence on the musical landscape. And even as a kid Pearl Jam never once struck me as “cool”. Eddie Vedder’s status as King Of Yarlers puts them on a Creed/Megadeth level to me.

Well, first they love me, and then they don't. Sometimes they do it, and sometimes they won't.

But there's some weird element about the Pumpkins that causes me to not care. Is part of it that none of the band individually, especially Corgan come off as cool? The other bands have cool personas and an edge for want of a better phrase. Even when producing great music Corgan came off like whiny nerd. Now I'm a whiny nerd too, but I'm not trying get to persuade people to remortgage their house to come see me play music from 20 years ago. Yeah, if they still had their Adore/Machina image they'd at least look somewhat cool, but if you look at them today, Billy is a slighty dumpy middle age man who hangs out with Gay Frog conspiracists, Jeff looks like a bank manager Jimmy is just some guy and the contractually obligated hot chick on bass is James Iha

Ah the yarle....that was one of the things that made mid 2000's rock suck. It seemed like every mainstream rock band did it.
