If any of the kids gave this version of Charlie Brown any shit, it'd be the last thing they ever did

Had a buddy that lived in Japan for 8 years teaching English. Married a lady over there and moved back to the States. Learned from her how huge Peanuts is in Japan. She had all kinds of neat Peanuts stuff I had never seen.
Not surprised Suzuki is a Peanuts fan.

Strong, distinctive design, humor that probably carries over culturally easier than a lot of comics, and I think that applies to the themes, too.

I think ZSJ should be Schroeder, but Iizuka almost has to be Pig Pen.

According to her, when she left Japan in the late 80s,Snoopy was as big as say Mickey Mouse or Bugs Bunny is in the States. She has this wooden windup Peanuts Ferris Wheel. Each gondola has 2 of the Peanuts characters in it. It is amazingly made and I jokingly asked her if she would leave it to me in her will.

From what I have heard and seen overseas, though, it's actually less for the themes and humor of Peanuts and more the fact that Snoopy is licensed by Sanrio in Japan (so Snoopy would be part of the Hello Kitty phenomenon there.) Indeed in Asia (and in many non-English countries), the comic is called "Snoopy" and people barely know about Charlie Brown or any of the other characters.

So who is the Linus? And does he use the blanket the way Mankind uses Socko? Had a buddy that lived in Japan for 8 years teaching English. Married a lady over there and moved back to the States. Learned from her how huge Peanuts is in Japan. She had all kinds of neat Peanuts stuff I had never seen. Not surprised Suzuki is a Peanuts fan. They still use them in commercial:

They still call the Cartoon series Charlie Brown and Snoopy: Dig the dubbing: They say yare yare instead of good grief. I wonder if Japanese audiences consider Lucy or Schroeder tsundere characters or Charlie Brown similar to Tenchi or Nobita from Doeraemon.
