Caught the 9:00pm showing tonight and already recorded my review for the film.

Just got home from it. I liked it, but sometimes, it felt like jump scares for the sake of jump scares.
Some will like it, some just won't. I don't know if there's a happy medium given the run time, and what I think is a massively different ending in which viewers can make some interesting inferences.
Don't go in expecting all of the book, and you might not be disappointed.

Anything more would push it into the four to five hour territory. {Spoiler}Actually glad they didn't include the Turtle too. I can't see the audience embracing the idea of a cosmic space turtle that is the arch-nemesis of Pennywise. Rumor has it they want to do a prequel involving Pennywise. My guess is The Turtle will be in that or in a deleted/extended scene for re-release or DVD.

went to see it earlier today, I enjoyed it, Bill Skarsgard was of course excellent, and I thought Bill Hader was great as Richie (can't fault any of the adult cast).
I also surprised at how much we got of the young Losers Club in flashback and I also felt bad for the victims (which is not alway something that happens with horror films).
I have never read the book but if I was too compare it to the mini-series second part, I felt the characters had more of a bond (Stanley seems completely forgotten in the miniseries for the most part).

Watched the first one a few weeks ago and I was surprised by how cookie cutter and forgettable it was. The CGI scares were crap and Pennywise was just a run of the mill villain with no personality. Maybe I'll stream this one in a few months if I get bored enough.

Only 4 by my memory and I just got home from seeing it.
I think what helped, especially with the kids is that we actually see them and get to know them a little. They aren't just random people. We know who they are. The way Pennywise suckered in the little girl was agonizing for lack of a better word.
The whole cast was amazing. The kids, the adults were all fantastic I felt.

Read that Andy Muschietti said his original cut of the film was longer than three hours. Guessing that's going to include {Spoiler}More Bowers and hallucinations, more of an extended conversation with Mike, The turtle, Bev's husband stalking her(should they decide to include that), Bev's and Bills one night affair, and maybe Eddie's arm getting bitten off by Pennywise?

I hope this movie has a scene where Pennywise says, "Kiss me, Fatboy!"

I enjoyed the hell out of that movie.
But there isn’t anything you can say to me to convince me it isn’t a comedy. Pennywise is downright comical in this one. Maybe inadvertently, idk. Nearly every single scene I just laughed at him.

And now I am convinced that Bray Wyatt has had the book/Pennywise in mind for his work in WWE. Monster clown with split personality, duh. "Eater of worlds" catchphrase? Check. And.... Minor spoiler, but... {Spoiler}{Spoiler} was that a firefly the girl with the port wine stain followed? I admit, I started singing the Firefly Funhouse song when I saw this.

FWIW, I found Penny showing more personality in the second movie.

Anyone could've been in the makeup.

One thing I liked was the string of references to King books/movies. I saw {Spoiler} Carrie, the real obvious one in The Shining, think there was another?
On the topic, was the Native American angle in the original book?

When he said he could blow her birthmark away, I thought he'd blow on the firefly and he'd set the entire bleachers and the field on fire.

{Spoiler}I was hoping for something a bit more grotesque with his spider form. In the book the imagery revolving around the concept was so horrifying and formless that I had chills reading it. {Spoiler}Richie breaking down over Eddie made me feel for him in the worst way. Much like in the book Eddie died alone in a horrible, desolate, and hellish domain with no one to take him away from that area.

Much like in the book Eddie died alone in a horrible, desolate, and hellish domain with no one to take him away from that area. {Spoiler}{Spoiler}In regards to that scene with Richie breaking down over Eddie, Muschetti has revealed that Richie was in fact in love with Eddie. There are hints of it in the book, and that scene with Bowers' cousin where he offers another game of SF, because he likes him even if he is unsure why, and then gets insulted out of the arcade.
I can't believe it was not that obvious to me (even with the "dirty little secret" which made me think something else for some reason, but I honestly thought up until the carving that Richie's crying was about wishing he hadn't been such a smart-ass and not antagonized (as playful as it was) his best friend as much).

I watched this last night and thought it was mediocre. Way too long and just felt like it was treading water at times. Not a bad movie, but definitely inferior to the first. Did it mention it was way too damn long?
