Still attached to the hapless fool who's lunch, without a doubt.
In any case, not much of a steak either. There's Filipino beef steak, which is thin cuts of beef (alternatively, pork) cooked in soy sauce and onions. Had a rare steak in a place once, which was nice. In any case, I'm fine with it as long as it's got rice. Need rice on the meat, or the meal will feel lacking.

Most places around here undercook their steaks so I order them medium and they come out closer to medium rare. When I get a prime rib or a good filet, I ask for it medium rare. It’s a real gamble. If you know how exactly they’re gonna f*** up it’s easier. I ordered a steak rare once, it was a hunk of meat shaped like a baseball. So the outside was rare, the inside was raw. Not even blue. Ordered rare from another place and if it was cooked much longer it would been beef jerky.

This is pretty much my reasoning for why I get my steak medium. Still get enough flavor without having to concern myself with possible food poisoning. Steak is pretty safe. Ground beef on the other hand.... Yup. Unless your steak has been sitting out long enough to go completely bad any and all bugs that'll have a field day with your digestive system will be killed in the cooking process as they won't have chance to get past the surface. With ground beef any and all bugs on the surface are going to be thoroughly distributed throughout the rest of the meat during grinding. So yeah, eat your steak as bloody as you want, but unless you're absolutely sure about where your meat came from and how fresh it is always have your burgers well done.

Used to always be Well Done, moved on to Medium Well the past few years and I like that more.
Could never have it raw.

My mom would always order my steak well done for me when I was a kid. I now find that disgusting. Medium rare is how any chef would tell you is the right and only way to eat steak. I also do it for burgers. Hot, juicy, melts in your mouth. Perfect setting.

You go to one that's been in business long enough to be considered "legal" if it were a person, and you're not spending any less than $50 for your cut. Sure for some it'd be somewhat pricey; but if you're not doing it yourself, you'd better damn sure be paying someone who knows what they're doing and it'll show in the results regardless of your preferred preparation 'doneness'. Just be prepared to sit for a while if you're wanting it well done.

Ugh. Theres few things worse than steak snobs. "WHY DA f*** WOULD CHA EVEN GET ONE IF ITS NOT HOW I LIKE IT!?". It's not so much that as, why go to a steakhouse and spend $50 on a steak and then order it in a fashion that ensures the chef sends out a $5 steak? If you cook it welldone, there's no difference between a $25 butcher shop steak and a $5 WalMart steak. People are free to eat steak however they want, but should also be aware that if you order a welldone steak at any half decent restaurant you will get served an inferior piece of meat. That's why a lot of high end restaurants will put restrictions on how you can order your meat, as those meals are created with the entire purpose of the meat being cooked certain ways and served with sides that will accent each other. It's the same reason high end restaurants won't allow substitutions, those menus are specifically designed by chefs to be meals where every part accents and goes with other parts and any change to that defeats the purpose of the dish. If you're grilling steaks in the yard do it however you want, but if you go to a high end restaurant and order welldone, it sure isn't fair to jump on Yelp afterwards and claim they serve shitty steaks when those steaks were never intended to be served welldone. And honestly, yeah, we joke about the King of the Hill thing, but I've had it happen where you spend alot of money on premium steaks to have a BBQ and someone asks for it well and it does bother me a bit because I feel I wasted money.

Depends on where I'm at.
In the upper midwest (ND/SD/MIN/NEB/IA) - Medium to medium well. Sometimes if you order medium it comes out completely raw. Medium well almost resembles more of a traditional medium.
Anywhere else in the country - Medium. Was just in New Orleans for Mania and had a burger one of the first days down there. Asked for medium well out of habit and it came out well done. Learned my lesson pretty quick for the rest of the week.

Same. Barely introduced to heat is my preference. Basically slapping the cow's arse is the way to go!

I tried steak tartare on a recent trip to France, I can safely say that is TOO rare for my liking, Ill stick to rare/med rare (depending on where I am) in the future.

I order medium rare because too many people screw it up when they prepare rare steaks. When I grill for myself it winds up being rare.

I guess medium. I'm not too picky about how my steaks are done. But I've never really had the taste for the more rare servings.
Push comes to shove if I'm forced between choosing a well done or super rare choice, I'm going for the well done.

Medium, though if they have to divert from that I err on the side of rareness version well-done-ness. I'd rather my steak being a bit too juicy than dry and leathery.
