I forgot this movie existed. From what I hear this wasn't well received the time it was released. I did take a look at it, and I can see why, there isn't a lot of screen time for the stooges. I think it could have been okay if there was more of their antics, it kinda looks like it was made like a family film than a stooges film, but I kinda liked that the Stooges were shown to be capable of doing something more serious, and they even looked serious and showed real emotions, especially Moe. Didn't anyone else seen this once?

after you watch the trailer .....
"come for the musical, except it's three quarters of silly slapstick!"

I'm not sure why they did this. It seems to me like a giant misstep for all parties.

It proved to be the biggest misfire of their career (not counting "The Good, the Bad, & the Ugly & the Three Stooges" of course).

From what I looked up, this song was cut from the movie:
Not sure if it would have made it better though

It’s pretty terrible. On the plus side it’s always nice to spend a little time with Moe and Larry, even if they’re in a crappy movie. The less said about Curly Joe the better.

I remember watching this as a kid and being bored out of my mind, and I was a huge Stooges nut. There was just way too much time spent on the other characters for my taste.

I mean, Carol Heiss looks gorgeous in it. But if you're gonna have a movie with the Three Stooges, they have to be more involved in it.
Plus, I read Heiss tried to get Patricia Medina fired from the movie, as the two did not get along at all.

This sounds like it would be one of those epic kinds of bad movies, but then you watch the trailer and it seems like they were seriously going for an actual movie that is meant to be taken somewhat seriously.

This was originally going to be directed by Frank Tashlin, who previously directed the likes of Porky Pig and Jerry Lewis. Remember that crazy cartoon of Porky and Daffy trying to escape the hotel without paying their bill? That's Tashlin. Tash got fired and replaced by the director of the @&$*ing King And I.
Naturally, King And I director Walter Lang got the budget raised from 3/4's of a million dollars (about $6 mil today) to $3.5 mil (almost $30 million now) and decided the thing needed to be a big lavish musical epic. He basically wanted to just make Snow White but was forced to keep the Stooges and just downsized their roles drastically.
I love this bit from Wikipedia:
Being the Stooges fan I am (I literally own every film and short they did as a unit except a small handful of the Ted Healy ones), this one is in my collection but definitely not a favorite. It's an interesting novelty, being their only color film, and an expensive epic megabomb at that, but it's definitely not something Stooges fans need to endure more than once.

Another interesting bit is that this was also made by Twentieth Century-Fox the same studio that starred the Stooges(when Larry, Moe and Shemp were with Ted Healy) earlier in "Soup To Nuts".

This looks like a movie that our motion picture studio, FANnon Films should remake. I say we get to it right after we finish "Shaq-Fu: The Movie."

*reads thread title and watches trailer* Oh, this isn't a porn parody? You're thinking of the Three Stooges in Snow White.

But how does it compare to the 2012 film?

Well, considering both Curly and Shemp were dead by this point (Curly died in 1952, Shemp in 1955), it was either him or Joe Besser. So they were kinda screwed from the word go.

Begs the question...could the act have worked with only Moe and Larry (besides having it to rename it to The Two Stooges) without having to add a third stooge?
