It only hit me last night that there was a plot hole about Thanos technically having the Mind Stone before the first Avengers film before giving it to Loki. The writers had to address this in interviews this week. They're saying that Loki was unaware he even had the Mind Stone and Thanos was trying to be incognito about his plans at the time. So, yeah. It gets even murkier when you remember Thor knew the Aether and the Tesseract were Infinity Stones (hence then being stored separately), but seemed shocked to find out the Sceptre was the Mind Stone. So nobody knew what the Mind Stone was, except Thanos.

Let's say Avengers 4 creates a new timeline that merges the X-Men Universe with MCU....what would people say about Quicksilver not dying and Evan Peters takes the role instead?

Peters is fine in the role, but the MCU has been really good at maintaining a clear, understandable timeline and continuity. The X-Men timeline and continuity is a complete mess (however alike the conics that may be) and introducing even a small part of it will just create more confusion. Much as I like a lot of the X-Men cast (both generations) a clean break is needed.

At that point Thanos was still on his planet by planet massacre spree. At the time the Mind Stone was probably the only Stone he not only had or knew about. If he indeed knew that the Tesseract was a Stone...he was probably letting Loki use it to do his bidding. I’m sure he’d relieve him of it later when the time was right. Needless to say...Odin and Ancient One still kicking it? Not the right time.

So nobody knew what the Mind Stone was, except Thanos. It could be a subtle nod to "The Thanos Quest" story, where most of the beings Thanos took the Infinity Gems from didn't really know what they had. Even Mistress Death didn't really conceive of what Thanos was trying to do in putting the Gauntlet together until he had it completed. Thanos was presented as being one of the few entities in the universe that really comprehended what the gems could do when utilized properly. You can see that in the movies as well; Loki was mind-controlling people one at a time through physical means, HYDRA and Ultron were using it on individuals as well and Vision flat-out admitted he didn't know what the thing was, SHIELD and Loki both built complicated mechanical devices to harness the Space Gem (HYDRA was somehow using it just to make guns, but that's a plot hole for another post), Malekith has just throwing swirly spikes around with the Reality Gem, etc. Ronan seemed to use the Power Gem effectively given that it's the simplest one to harness. Doctor Strange was the only person we saw in the preceding films that was really using his stone to its full potential in his confrontation with Dormammu. All that said, it still doesn't explain why Thanos gave Loki a gem to get another and ended up losing both instead of just cutting the same "Get me the gem, then I'll destroy your enemies" deal he cut with Ronan.

Ronan didn't know exactly what he was getting for Thanos. When he did find out, the first thing he did was turn on him. Also Thanos clearly didn't trust Ronan, otherwise Nebula and Gamora wouldn't have been keeping an eye on him. Same deal with Loki. Give him a powerful weapon and a goal, but don't tell him the finer details because Loki'll screw you around in a heartbeat. Once Loki's achieved what he was sent to do, relieve him of the staff.

Yeah, Thanos was well aware of Loki's reputation. Which ultimately led to his death. Thor was right. "Dear brother, you're becoming predictable. I trust you, you betray me, round and round in circles we go. See Loki, life is about... It's about growth, it's about change, but you seem to just want to stay the same. I guess what I'm trying to say is that you'll always be the god of mischief, but you could be more." While Loki ultimately did become more by sacrificing himself in an attempt to stop Thanos, it was also so predictable that Thanos wouldn't have needed the Gauntlet to see it coming a mile away and stopped him.

So I don't know if this movie has another 800-900 million in it, but it hasn't opened up in China and I'm assuming that's going to be a $250 million box office (Age of Ultron did $240 million). Is it safe to say it will beat Avengers 1 ($1.5 billion?).

Just saw it for my 2nd time( yes I know if this movie doesn't make any money it's because I didn't support it enough) I have to say this movie is beutiful to look at. The scences in New York, Nivadellir, Wakanda and Titan and how real Rocket looked. Just awesome.

Nothing is a sure thing, it really depends on how long it stays in theaters. I mean Spider-man Homecoming's money was made for like months after it came out.

Hell, Black Panther has just had its home release and is still going in theatres, even got bumped back into the top ten last weekend.

I do think Deadpool 2 is gonna take a bite outta their box office goin forward. Everyone who is gonna see it already will have by then. As y'all said, it just depends on how long it stays in theaters and gets a some more repeat viewings. It'll win again this weekend, and then get knocked off by Pool the next week.

So it looks like they finally have an excuse-- er, explanation as to the absence of Scarlet Witch's accent:
Either way, the accent is not missed. It was bad. Like, Halle-Storm bad.
