A guy I've always respected as one of the best technical wrestlers mainly from his time in WCW is Malenko, his time in the WWE though is something I can't remember hardly anything about .
I remember the debut of the radicals but not a lot of deans stuff at all.
Any of you guys like to remind me of some of the better stuff he was involved in during his time in the company please? Memorable storylines, matches, feuds etc...
Thanks in advance

Dean's reign with the Light Heavyweight Title was one of the few highlights in that title's history. I believe his match with Scotty Too Hotty at Backlash 2000 was an underrated gem of the era.

Remember that now it's mentioned, Shame they couldn't find more opponents for the division for Malenko to work with. A run with the US title or at least a opportunity to go for it should have been given.

He had the whole “Double Ho 7” gimmick where he wanted to f*** Lita. The segment where he tried to seduce Lita, only to have her point out his wedding ring, and then the Hardys beat him up and trash his hotel room is hilarious.

Malenko was sort of in the twilight of his career when he went to WWF, but he was still a solid worker. Where he's really made his mark in WWE is in the production side of things. He's been a road agent with WWE since he officially retired from active wrestling.

In nearly 30 years of watching pro wrestling, I've never seen a more crisp, smooth, technically proficient worker than Malenko. It's a shame he's not a few years younger so he could've gotten a more sustained in-ring run in the WWF.

People really don't typically know how great of a wrestler he was. Awesome talent.

As someone who began watching WWE in 2000 I always thought he was the most boring wrestler on the roster. His ladie's man gimmick was... an odd choice I thought

The long Light Heavyweight champion run, the Backlash match with Scotty (thought that was damn near four stars, except for Scotty not selling the leg by the end), the ludicious 007 Ladies Man gimmick that I remain convinced was all a rib on the stoic Malenko and the feud with her and the Hardys including a pretty decent match with Lita.
Those are my main memories. He defended that title a ton, too, but only the Scotty match remains in my memory.

The late 90's and early 2000's weren't a great time to be a smaller guy in the WWE. Malenko is only billed as 5'10" and 212lbs, which means he was like 5'8" and 190lbs. That just wasn't big enough to break through in the WWE. He would've ended up probably basically where he ended up anyway, in the light heavyweight division and doing ridiculous comedy gimmicks until he was released or retired.

My mentality is more he could've ended up on Smackdown after the first brand split, and tore it up with Benoit, Rey, Angle, and the like. Maybe even a quick US title run. I dunno, I always feel like he was wasted in 2000, and maybe a few years later he could've gotten something better.

I forget if the timelines worked out but I remember being annoyed that they never had him and Jericho interact with each other in the wwe.
I also remember someone on these boards saying something along the lines of "if dean malenko comes to the wwe they'd give him a pimp character or something"

People really don't typically know how great of a wrestler he was. Awesome talent. Dean was never really a flashy in ring guy and that kept him under the radar for a lot of fans. Just from a pure mat wrestling standpoint, he was one of the top handful to ever do it though. as for his WWE run, I only really remember him teaming with Saturn for a minute at the end of the Radicals run, his light heavyweight title run/match with Scotty 2 Hotty, and Double Ho Seven.

Dean was absolutely fantastic. I wish he had more memorable moments in the WWE but as has been said he was reaching he end of his career when he got there. He’s the kind of guy who could probably make a killing if he was in his prime now.

It’s criminal how much people don’t realize how great Dean Makenko was. I remember one time being at a WCW house show where it was Malenko vs Mysterio and people thought it would be a piss break. By the end people were applauding both guys for the excellent match they put on.
In his WWF tenure he had a great match with Scotty 2 Hotty and another great one with Jerry Lynn on Smackdown or Heat.
Btw does anyone know if William Regal and Dean Malenko have ever had a match against one another? That would be incredible to see.
