So what was everyone's reaction when Sable sued WWE in 1999? Was it justified? Did she have cause?
Also when she showed up in Nitro was she there to negotiate a juno to WCW?
And last did it shock you when Sable returned in 2003? It's funny the character she did not want to portray in 1999 she would be in 2003.

"Oh, Sable's back. I guess that's ok?"
Even though I was a teen around that time, Sable in 97-98 was faaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrr better than her in 03. Like, I get it but it didn't do much to the product for me. She was like I don't know, she was like Maryse coming back a few years ago. I get it but it didn't really change anything for me.

Was I shocked I guess because of the law suit. I wasn't a huge fan of hers, I get yeah she got over because she agreed to get as Naked as one could on TV and did Playboy. Either run she was for me just Eye candy and nothing more. Was she good looking yes but not the most attractive person either time. Sunny in her prime was better looking. 03 Torrie and Trish knocked her out of the park in looks. Sable for me lacked, outside her big boobs she didn't have anything else.

Her timing for the lawsuit, combined with the amount of damages she was seeking, couldn't have been more galling.
Sable decided that very shortly after Martha Hart announced her lawsuit against WWE over Owen's death to announce her own plans to sue - for more than double the damages Martha was seeking, for a tort generally considered to be far less serious. Any appeal she had remaining in the eyes of most fans went out the window then and there.

At the time when I was watching, it felt like the culmination of rumours about a big rift between her and management. I'd liked Sable okay in '97 and most of '98, though she was never one of my favourite women in either WWF or WCW during that period.
By late '98 in to '99, the continuing push, awful promos and terrible matches were getting really irritating. Didn't care about the Playboy stuff and it just felt like a case of "well okay, bye, then" when she quit and put up that lawsuit. Fair point by nisidhe about the timing, too.
I didn't see Nitro that night when she was in the crowd, actually. Nothing much to say there really, though. She'd have done nothing in WCW.
I was definitely surprised to see her back in 2003, just as much when she launched almost immediately into the kind of lesbian storyline she'd vetoed before.
I gave even less of a damn about that comeback, though. More bad promos, a handful of bad matches and the most cringeworthy, unconvincing and cheesy attempts to be sexy with Torrie et al.

Controversial opinion: even as a horny teenager, I never saw what the fuss was about when it came to Sable. Cold, dead eyes and a bad boob job and she couldn't even make up for it with any kind of talent either.
In the nineties you could perhaps argue that there were relatively slim pickings when it came to women in the WWF but by 2003 there were loads who blew her out of the water in just about every way. I can see why Luna was so pissed off with the way WWF bowed down to her.

I think it is hard to comprehend just how over Sable was in 98/99 - but I have to agree I never really got her appeal. Don’t let Brock hear me say that though!

Yeah, she doesn't do anything for me at all looking back on it but she was easily one of the top 5 most over people for some reason. Maybe even top three.

She always seemed kind of plasticy to me, both in terms of performance, promos and look. Sunny, Liz and countless other women active in wrestling at the time all seemed more natural and pretty, imperfections and all, but the Vinces liked her and wanted her to be a star.

Meh, didn't care too much about it in 99, I remember seeing her on Nitro in the summer that year as a spectator but wasn't a big deal to me, I was more shocked when Hogan/Hall/Nash were returning in 2002.

When she sued in 1999, I was only a teen so I just thought who am I to say one way or the other. I definitely didn't think she'd be back in 2003.
In her heyday as an attraction 1998, she would be in the top 3 in pops on any given night. It was the era of Pamela Anderson and she became the WWF's version. By 2003, that luster wore off, there had been a lot of hot women who came into WWF and WCW so she didn't stand out.

Honestly didn't care that she left.
Definitely didn't care when she returned. Attraction-wise, I thought that Trish, Lita, Torrie, and Dawn Marie in 2003-04 were much hotter than her in any of her runs with the WWE.

I was definitely surprised that she came back given the drama over her leaving, but I didn't really care much.

Didnt care at all when she was there in '99, and didnt care when she returned.
There were better women both in terms of talent and looks, with far less drama.
I just wish Vince had decided to keep Sunny and help her with her drug issues at the time, maybe her life would have been different
