I sympathize but I agree that you shouldn't let it get to you so much. I've been fans of lots of guys over the years that were generally hated by everyone at one time or another. Not to the level of Cena, or Reigns, for sure, but I've stuck with guys like Zack Ryder and Seth Rollins when virtually everyone was down on them. It's just the way of the internet and fandom at large, everyone's going to hate someone for something, but it shouldn't diminish your thoughts or feelings towards it.

It was one of the greatest nights ever, in my opinion. I had ZERO sympathy to Cena fans then, and I still don't. For the first time ever, Super Cena was defeated and it seemed like the world was bright again. ...then they proceed to NOT have him get fired, let him beat an exhausted Rey Mysterio, and hog all the main events during Punk's reign. As I said, ZERO sympathy to Cena fans. Cena (The WWE character) is a grade A twat, Whenever he gets beat it's a good day. The Summerslam match where he got decimated by Lesnar I was euphoric

Well, for a while, it did f*** up my self esteem. I have no issue admitting it did at the time. Also for the record, I was pretty much indifferent to the aftermath. It didn't change my feelings on anybody involved.

Guess I was wrong.

I feel sorry for you if the emotion you felt after watching this show of all shows was sadness.

I can understand the frustration. I could not stand AJ Lee in 2012 and I recall people getting ganged up on when they showed any dislike to her. I hope we've grown pass that because that was not a fun time to be a member of the board.

The aftermath was a sad, difficult experience for me. I thought there’s no way they can screw up such a huge, obvious angle. There was almost no work to do. Punk stays home, fake crashes WWE events, eventually comes back to challenge the “new” champion. They blew their load in two weeks. It's funny because it was like they were afraid to keep the title off the show. Now look at Brock Lesnar.

John Cena was just SUCH a weird jerk on TV back then I was thrilled when Punk won. I love white meat babyfaces. They're my favorite characters. Superman is my favorite comic book character ever. Ricky Steamboat is maybe my 2nd favorite wrestler. But Cena isn't that. Dude's character is a bit of a homophobic jerk.
The most frustrating part was that they started writing Punk like him afterward.

But I was more focused on Cena the performer than I was Cena the character.

Crazy how hard he works to be better in ring given, if anyone could coast, it's him. I loved the buildup to the mixed tag at Mania when he was just cutting savage promos on Miz every week. He's great.

I'm sorry. I just get really annoyed with these "It's so HARD to be a Cena fan" thread.
No it isn't. It is not hard to be a John Cena fan. Your guy is on top over everyone else at all times.
From 2005 till 2011 your guy was put above everyone at all times at the expense of LITERALLY EVERYONE ELSE.
No one else deserves a turn to see anything different? C'mon now.

I mean the guy is entitled to his opinion. Being a fan of "the guy" on wrestling message boards is never fun when the majority of the board hate said guy and calls the person supporting guy names. This board is tramer than most others. But other boards are not fun to be fans of Vinces chosen ones
