So yeah, no new trailer tonight.
But it begs the question. Why do we have to know the date? If I recall, BOTH trailers for Endgame were surprise dropped out of nowhere. Do we really need a teaser date for the new trailer? They will drop it (maybe sometime this week) along with tickets in the morning and that's all we need.

So ... this is gonna be shit then?
Can this trilogy just be retconned. Start fresh, this time with Feige at the helm so theres actually a coherent story from start to finish.

That doesn't really sound true. I could be wrong, but that reads way more like someone that didn't like Last Jedi just inventing stuff.

Luke IS Star Wars. If that really is the attitude they had going into this, no wonder it turned out like it did.

So Colin Trevorrow was fired because he wanted to stick to the original overall narrative that JJ Abrams had established that Disney decided to ditch?
Holy shit Disney really f***ed this up.

The thing I find mind boggling: Back in the not so distant past Marvel was struggling and didn't even have movie rights to their A List Properties like Spiderman and XMen, so they took a bunch of their non-A List Superheros and they went with a huge overarching plan and stuck too it over like 20 movies. Made a shitpile of money and have a new media empire. Then you have Star Wars, a superjuggernaut of media and money. Zero rights issues, could use anything they wanted. And they are like "yeah whatever just fly by the seat of your pants and make movies. We don't have a plan."
Like... what the hell?!

Like the "Rian wrote his script before the first viewing of Force Awakens." thing.
I don't buy that for a second.
Also, someone at Lucasfilm had disdain for Luke and Trevorrow was let go cuz he wanted to stick with JJ's script. I'm calling bullshit on all of that. Again reads like someone who didn't like Last Jedi and how Luke was portrayed just pulling stuff out of their ass.

I'm late to this but did anyone make a Night of the Skywalkers joke about how the climax will end up in a scaffold match?

Are we really resorting to reposting unverified rumours from almost three months ago from some random poster on another forum that would've been reported somewhere, anywhere since? Even Grace Randolph hasn't reposted this, and she'll take any opportunity to spread dirt on the current LucasFilm senior staff.

Honestly I think something that's hurting the franchise in general is the various (occasionally conflicting) news reports about the production issues of the movies. The behind the scenes problems of Solo likely affected pre-release reception of that film; now the constant rumor mill of reshoots and lack of footage of Rise of Skywalker is just fueling a growing perception that the Star Wars people don't know what they're doing.

I'm a poster at WDW Magic (I'm RoysCabin over there), and posted in this thread, I believe. Couple things when I saw this back in August: there are Disney/Disney Parks insiders on the board who'll share information and rumors sometimes, but the guy who wrote this isn't a lock for being the most reliable source.

Even Grace Randolph hasn't reposted this, and she'll take any opportunity to spread dirt on the current LucasFilm senior staff. Because everything has to be sunshine and rainbows/happy sylvanian families behind the scenes right? Everything is assuredly not, as evidenced by the issues that blighted Rogue One and Solo. It doesn't mean half-cocked tales from some message board are any more credible, especially when there are news sites with proven sources within LucasFilm who reported many of the issues with Rogue One and Solo who have remained silent. What there is, however, is a particularly vocal group within the fandom that has a voracious appetite for anything that portrays LucasFilm and Disney in a negative light, and is well fed by people who aren't above making up their own narratives to generate clicks and ad revenue.

It's not so much that everything has to be sunshine and rainbows as that particular post sounds like complete bullshit.
Trevorrow got fired because he wanted to stick to Abrams script for the second movie, then for the third movie they bring back Abrams? That makes no kind of sense.

My guess is that Abrams' original story idea for TLJ was probably just as bafflingly stupid as Johnson's.

*shrugs* who knows with all this shit. I figure the truth lies somewhere in the middle. The Sony hacks showed 7 was always supposed to be Hans, 8 was Lukes and 9 was Leia. A lot of the anti-Disney/sw rumors seem inflamed. That being said, I can’t imagine this is exactly how they wanted the ST to pan out.

Man, you people will really believe anything negative about the sequel trilogy, including completely unverified unsourced information on some forum by some random schmo.
Talk about confirmation bias.

Well, it's had 2 not great films so far. I have my doubts that the third one can save the trilogy. This is my own opinion of course.
