Are we really comparing Ric Flair not being able to take back bumps onto a visible lump in his back after surviving a plane crash to a broken nose? Come on now. In terms of killing her career, yes. She lost like 6 months of her career the first time, she's probably afraid of losing another 6, her spot at the top, and because Vince is a dickhole, probably getting kicked down to jobber status if the surgery doesn't heal right. Yeah I'm with Alexa on this one. If a big part of my career was how I looked...and It had already happened once and I'd gotten lucky? Yeah I'd be scared shitless.

Because of this added limitation though, booking and match layout should be changed to work around this and find other alternatives.

Plus with the Flair taking back bumps thing, Flair said himself in his book that he wouldn't even let guys he trusted with his life and that he knew would keep him safe like Sting to slam him flat on his back.

This is an argument I've always hated.
Been heel doesn't mean been boring. If you can only get heat by stinking up the place by wrestling a dull style then you're bad at your job.
Orton used the same argument when he was heel. I just fast forwarded through his matches because I couldn't stand to watch a 10 minute chinlock fest.
Now a more aggressive style, yes. Heels should look more vicious. But still be entertaining in the ring.
Edit: for the record, U think Bliss is a really good heel who plays her character well. No need to deliberately stink up the place.

Its this attitude of getting heat that has stopped me from watching WWE over the past few years. If the only way you know how to get heat is by being terrible you're not good

He did chin locks for ages as a heel and put too much emphasis on that to the point it hurt him badly
However, as a face he wrestles a more notable faster pace and when he's with guys that can work like Christian he steps his game up

You know how everyone talks about that Mighty Mouse gimmick that Neville was supposed to get? It occurred to me that Alexa has that gimmick minus the hero bit. She regularly runs roughshod over people far larger than her, physically dominating them like someone twice or three times her size and seems to win whenever it's important.

The size thing with Alexa is weird. The roster is filled with similar sized women nobody has problems with. Other than Nia and Charlotte, most of the women aren't far from Alexas size. You could literally see it on RAW. Ember and Mickie are right there with her.

However, it's not so much that she's small and wins. It's the fact that she dominates and wins in a dominant fashion. Sasha's not much bigger than Alexa but with Charlotte she had to put a lot into it to finish her off. Alexa kicked Charlotte and then spent the match manhandling her. That's the disconnect.

I wonder if they have her get in a lot of offense to compensate for the fact that she loses a lot of matches for someone in her position? If so, I don't get it because a loss is a loss. A sports team doesn't "look strong" because they had a lead for most of the game before losing.

Thats the thing. They aren't taller than her. Ember is much more muscular, but same exact height. Nikki Cross was dwarfed by Sasha standing next to her. Kairi Sane is the same size and rolled through much bigger opponents at the MYC with no complaint, and when Io shows up she'll be the same too. Its not a size argument but a sloppily worded "workrate" argument. Like I said, outside of Charlotte and Nia, people that actually beat her, the whole "Dominate and win and she's so tiny" talking point doesn't make sense. I mean her beating Sasha and Mickie last year isn't really a big deal.

I mean her beating Sasha and Mickie last year isn't really a big deal. As far as women that wrestle she's still the smallest and I still think believability is still an issue even in the women's division where everyone is generally pretty close in size. Even Emmber while short is still pretty thick. Them calling up some other real short girls like Ember, Nikki, and Zelina (who actually is shorter then Alexa) has helped but before that Alexa was always clearly the shortest and smallest girl on the roster and by a good margin. Over the years in backstage segments or whenever they would do stuff in the ring where all the girls would be out you could really see how super tiny she is in comparison to the other girls as with the exception of Mickie James she would be completely dwarfed by everyone else. Women in the average 5'4"-5'5" range like Sasha, Becky, Carmella, and Emma looked almost like giant women in comparison to her and even other girls on the shorter side Dana Brooke and Mandy Rose looked a good bit taller too.

I miss good old fashioned heel work in WWE. Thumb to the eye, using the ropes, distracting the ref and choking a dude. This new style "I don't wrestle well to get heat" bs is lame as f***.

Judging by the fact that the amount of restholds and aimless plodding in Alexa Bliss PPV matches usually kills the crowd deader than dead, I'm not sure it's working too well.

Doesn't explain why the bumps she does take aren't safe. A couple she's tried to break her fall with a foot rather than back bump which is a good way to mess yourself up over time.

I've only seen the asuka-alexa match on raw and the bad bumping was noticeable and really detracted from the match
