Oh wow, RIP. He was a great heel back in his day, and from what I've heard, a really nice down to earth guy.

Since he was his property, I hope Ted Dibiase gives him a good funeral.

RIP. I have only recently through the WWE Network been able to look at his pre-1985 work. He had a hell of a career. My best to his family and loved ones.

RIP. I loved the story in the Hardys' book where the agent for Matt's match with Nikolai warned him not to screw up. When Matt met with Nikolai, he said "don't worry kid, I screw up all the time."

Really enjoyed his tag team with the Iron Sheik. Liked him in the Bolsheviks with Boris Zhukov too. RIP Nikolai Volkoff.

70 years old. That's like 900 in wrestler years.
RIP, I had tons of fun watching him as a bairn.

Dang, I loved watching him as a kid. He was one of my grandfather’s favorite wrestlers. RIP.

Sad to hear. Nikolai was part of the Rock'n'Wrestling Connection that first drew me in-I was pleasantly surprised to hear how nice he was too after seeing him as a bad guy growing up. R.I.P. big Nikolai

RIP to an icon. Long career, iconic heel that did a semi-successful babyface run in the later part of the career. Rightly in the Hall of Fame for his career, but also as a top flight human being.
Now, please rise for the playing of the Russian National Anthem.

By all accounts I've seen, he was a stand up guy in real life with a huge heart. RIP

Never really saw a lot of him at his peak. I first remember him teaming with Sheiky Baby and later Boris Zhukov, before his face run after the fall of the Soviet Union. I enjoyed him. RIP Comrade Volkoff.

Rest in peace, Nikolai. The infamous "no ring" show he worked for may be something to chuckle at for most, but I've always seen it as Nikolai making the best of a bad situation and doing whatever he could to please the fans. So many other workers would have bailed or at most just done a signing/meet-and-greet.

Absolutely amazing heel during the cold war in the 80's. Between him and Brian Christopher, today is an awful day for wrestling.
