What year, what failed push, reign of terror, bad storyline etc... multiple answers permitted if you have stopped and started a couple times...
Not trying to binge on negativity, but curious to see which periods drove away the most people.

I rarely watch a whole show and drift in and out of PPVs.
I feel like it's almost like watching every night of a touring, scripted show. You can only take seeing the exact same thing, beat for beat, line for line, so many times.

I had to get rid of cable as a cost saving measure.
Still had a blast in July at what was my cousin’s son’s first ever wrestling show.
That’s the beauty about wrestling, it’s so easy to slip back into it even without knowing the intricacies of the long term storylines

It started with the guest host run. Shows started to be booked in a lazy manner, as Raw became more of a variety show than an episodic show. Sure, they had a couple of runs where they had a storyline running weeks at a time (like nexus, punk's run, Daniel Bryan, the Rollins heel turn) but other than that, its been good matches that don't mean anything.
Also, I can't watch when stephanie is on because I'm tired of her overbearing character emasculating the Male talent and treating the female talent like they're 5 year olds.

A lack of cable and internet. Raw and SDL are completely skippable to me, but normally when I’m at home I still watch PPV’s and all NXT shows, but I’ve been away from home since April so I rarely watch. Had to go to Mum and Dads for NXT and SummerSlam (and All In).

Oddly enough, the last straw for me was that video package hyping up the return of Shelton Benjamin.
And I know he ended up injured and didn't actually return until like a year later, but just the idea that getting to see Shelton Benjamin on TV again was something I was expected to be excited about made me realize what a gulf there is between me and WWE's target audience these days.

Probably within the past 4-5 years, I haven't watched a ppv after WM 30, and I can't tell you the last full Raw or SmackDown I've watched. Although I can handle SmackDown a lot more.
Why don't I watch? Simple. It's boring as f***.

General lack of satisfying feuds and storylines, Roman's multiple coronations when I have zero desire to see him in any capacity and "Asuka will be fine".
I also feel bored and that I completely wasted my time investing in almost anyone I like.

Why sit through 3 hours of Raw and 2 hours of SD when you can catch up on all the story lines in just a few a minutes with the YouTube clips they upload?

After tonight and seeing that they’re trying to kill Braun by doing the same thing they did to Ryback, I’m gonna take a long break from the wwe.
I don’t know what happened to me, seeing him standing next to that failure Ziggler just made me angry and sad at the same time.

Been drifting out for a while, nail in the coffin was Strowman teaming up with that kid at Wrestlemania. From that moment, I was done.

-The Triple H reign of terror and burial of my favorites/no strongly booked face in the early to mid 2000's is around the time I really started to get jaded on the WWE product. -The Cena Era after he started the marine gimmick and the DX/McMahon feud is when I started to fall asleep during shows and eventually stopped watching every week. -I came back in during the rise of Punk and Bryan, but when they both left I stopped watching for over a year. Right now I'm an occasional viewer of Smackdown and a never viewer of Raw.

The booking. At this point in time, WWE has its most talented overall roster of wrestlers that it’s ever had (and that’s not even including NXT). But I got sick of Wrestlers who were over with the fans being booked like shit and wrestlers who despite getting negative reactions are pushed repeatedly.

To answer my own question, I was a devoted fan from my earliest memory (born in 85 and honestly can't remember what my first show was because I just cannot remember a time I wasn't watching everything) but watched every VHS tape I could rent so saw every WWF and NWA/WCW show from the mid 80s to 2001....
2001 was my first serious break. Austin turned heel. WCW and ECW gone. Guys I liked such as Taz and RVD got the rugs pulled out time and time again.
I just sort of flipped in and out through H's reign of terror, then got back into it around 04 when Eddie and Benoit had their moments. Took another break in 07 after the Benoit tragedy, through no fault of the booking. I was just done and needed to cleanse from everything.
Came back for the Summer of Punk, which showed me nothing had really changed. Guest host era was brutal. The Shield era really recharged my interest, and that great run of Raws at the time, culminating with WM30, with all the frustration leading to and coming after that.
I've been on half-watch mode ever since. I see guys I like, they get buried, and I'm just indifferent. Hope they save their money and do the best they can.

I don't watch with any kind of regularity--a few PPVs a year.
The main shows are boring and predictable.

The Mania (2 years ago I think) when Roman beat Taker I was just annoyed and bitching about how the whole show sucked and I was like, “Wait, no one makes me watch this show but me. If I don’t like it I should stop.”
I did mostly. I watch PPVs every few months with friends and enjoy it. I loved Mania this year until Roman. I haven’t liked him since like week 3 of the Shield so a lot of it can be pinned on his rise but honestly I just don’t have 5 or more hours to dedicate to a show that isn’t very good.
