I had a forced break in 2003 as my Mum and Dad had got rid of cable, so the only way I could really follow wrestling was reading the internet. I eventually got my own cable subscription a year later, so it was exciting to catch up on everything i'd missed for a year. Then of course we in the UK had "the Wrestling Channel", so I was getting ROH, TNA, CZW, plus getting back into WWE after a year, I was loving it. These days, I can't watch a full three hour RAW. Mostly because it starts at 1am and finishes at 4am here. Even when i'm on holiday from work and take a week off, I still won't stay up for the whole three hours. As a fan who's been loyal to this company since the 80's, it's pretty damn sad that my opinions don't matter to them any more. It’s absolutley not worth staying up for Raw

One other thing, I didn’t like the ATTitude ERA!!!11! more because I was a kid. It was just better and more entertaining. I know there was a lot of crap, A LOT, but god it was exciting.
I can still watch Austin and Rock and Foley etc stuff now and get goosebumps.

It's a shame that it's no longer a thing. As for this thread's topic I can't remember what it was that made me stop watching WWE. I just stopped one day after a period of watching every show that the WWE put out.

Triple H going over Sting at Wrestlemania.
I didn’t watch anything after that until the Royal Rumble when I heard AJ might be debuting. I was excited to see him there, then Triple H won the rumble. I haven’t watched one second since.

I do still watch but only periodically and my Network subscription has been cancelled for months now, due to Mania 34, specifically Charlotte going over Asuka.

I've brought this up before, but it's funny to me that the longest stretch I ever consistently watched WWF/E for was during my childhood, late 1990 through around fall 1994. I quit around that time because I was getting a little bit older (well, I guess 9 years old is "older" in this case) and got other interests, I missed the characters I had grown up watching on TV and on Coliseum home video rentals, and yeah, all the New Generation stuff that simply wasn't very good drove me off. I'd keep up occasionally, but the wrestling show I got to watch most during that time? WCW Saturday Night on TBS. Even that I didn't watch with a ton of regularity.
That all changed in '98, when I just so happened to catch the spring break NItro and the Raw after WM 14; that got me into the Monday Night War boom, but both companies burned me out very quickly with all the booking insanity, and by 2000 I was watching less and less and just keeping up with news as it broke. Once WCW was gone I'd keep tabs on WWF whenever someone like Flair or the nWo showed up, but never with any consistency.
Then Benoit won the 2004 Rumble and I got excited about it, so I got back into watching WWE...for less than a year. Benoit won but was never the focus of the show, Eddie won but quickly lost to friggin' JBL (I know, Eddie asked to lose, but still), and the main focus of SummerSlam was Triple H vs. Eugene. It hit me during that point the shows felt repetitive and "samey" on a weekly basis. The nail in the coffin was Trips winning at New Years Revolution 2005 in the Elimination Chamber; I was all psyched when Benoit and Edge nearly won the belt off him, when Bischoff turned tweener and held the title up, and figured "wow, maybe this show's about to change and get a new focus!"
...Then Trips won and I said "screw this, it's not aimed at me, and I've got ROH DVDs to keep me happy." Bischoff turning back into a slimy authority figure heel just so Cena could have a foil on Raw was also a huge turn off that came later, but I was only following news about WWE at that point and not really watching. By spring of '05 I was done ever being a consistent viewer again, and certainly done ever patronizing WWE events.
I checked in casually during the Summer of Punk since I had gotten to see the ROH version of it in person, but they managed to botch that with incredible quickness (Cena totally heeling out to get the title off Mysterio, Punk's super quick return, Nash texting himself, jobbing to Trips, etc.). Then they did the God awful, super offensive "walkout" angle soon afterward, which I happened to catch while on a treadmill at the gym while the closed captions were on, and I knew there was no way I'd go out of my watch it again.
All through those times I sought out alternatives, and I'm very happy with the ones I have now, like NJPW, Lucha Underground, some ROH and other smaller promotions here and there, and I'm hoping to get AJPW.tv soon, as well. There's a world of fun out there in the wrestling world, but it's not coming from Stamford, and for me it really hasn't been coming from there since the 90s.

I had been bouncing around not watching for about a year, and then Lashley's Sisters happened.
In hindsight, it may be forgotten as another bad idea, but it was so lazy and obnoxious that I tapped out.
The fact that we're now heading towards Uncensored 1996 levels of booking for RAW (Everybody vs. the Shield) makes me happy I quit when I did.

Right after Wrestlemania 30. It's well known I was never a fan of Daniel Bryabn and that didn't help, but Undertaker losing was the real straw that broke the camels back. I had been zoning out of Raws for awhile by then and just found the whole thing to be slow, boring and soul draining. The storylines were awful, the matches weren't engaging and I cared about none of the people on screen, even my favorites. So I stopped and haven't watched a full show since.

I haven't watched a full episode of Raw since a live taping in May. Brock Lesnar's reign was a breaking point for me and now Braun's unnecessary heel turn has driven me away further.
All I watch now is the occasional episode of Smackdown.

I haven’t watched short of just checking in on these boards and watching some social media stuff in about 6 months now. A combination of factors drove me away - I wasn’t watching enough to justify even the $9.99/month for the network, I was growing tired of how formulaic the booking and storytelling had become, I was really sick of Lesnar’s reign, and honestly I just came to this stark realization that I did not enjoy the product WWE was putting out anymore.
This, against the backdrop of NJPW becoming much more accessible and easy to follow with NJPWWorld and the partnership with ROH, has caused me to almost exclusively follow NJPW now for my wrestling fix. I don’t hate WWE, I don’t want it to die or anything like that, just as a fan who grew up in the 90’s NJPW was putting out a product that’s more to my tastes right now.

Started watching in 2000 and did so until mid-2003 because the Reign of Terror was boring and it made me lose interest in the product as a whole.
Resumed watching in late-2004 and did so up until the Fall of 2007, just kinda fell off I guess.
Came back again in early-2009 and watched consistently until midway through last year. Ever since then, I've just been away from the product. Its just not wrestling to me anymore. The way they write it is just so poor.

Like most of the guys my venture with wrestling started with WWF on TV in late '80s but it would be in 1993 that I've expanded my experience with WCW and I was watching both on regular basis until sometime in 1995 when I quit WWF because it was so bad. Then came the Nitro and nWo and that was it for me pretty much very rarely I've switched back to RAW. I'm sorry but whole 1997 WWF was not that good as history wants to tell us today. Yes it had it's moments but it also had more junk than WCW.
My last spark of interest was Bret Hart in WCW but since I've seen it go nowhere and my last hope was chairshot on Hogan that was a proof it was really not going anywhere I began to move away from wrestling by 2000. I did some catchup on WWF in the meantime but it was way too obvious that Triple H was future for them so I gave up that as well. Kurt Angle was the only bright spot for WWF at the time as everything else sucked.
TNA has brought me back into the game with a great mixture of young supertalent and old guys. Once again I was right for sticking up with AJ, Joe, Roode and others instead of wasting my time on Triple H vision of WWE with Orton, Batista, Swagger, Sheamus, Miz, Cena, etc that felt so artificial. 2005-2010 could easily be the worst time in WWE history as far as I'm concerned. All of the TNA talent is now ruling WWE which to me is a victory of common sense and hard work over I have great body and I'm friends with Trips so give the belt.
Ultimately the reason I'm not a die hard fan anymore is cause I've seen it all. After so many decades into it you come to conclusion that wrestling is all about repetition and that kind of make sense cause new kids are coming up and they need to get introduced to wrestling as well. Wrestling can't grow with you cause then there would be no kids to become die hard fans anymore. That's pretty much it.

I've had three periods where I gave up on WWF/WWE for long stretches at a time:
1. Circa WM9-10, I started losing interest and stopped watching as things went into the New Generation stuff. Didn't come back until the Monday Night Wars were starting to get hot with the early Austin stuff, but that was mostly out of my interest in wrestling coming back via the early NWO stuff.
2. After the Invasion debacle, gave up again. Didn't come back until Punk' pipebomb.
3. I quit again after Punk left. Haven't watched a show since, just a clip or two here and there on YT, mostly so I know what the hell all of you are talking about in here.

Im down to PPVs only, and thats if my H.School buddy from 15+yrs ago and I can catch up and shoot the shit over text as well.
Reasons
Pointless matches
90% of matches are 15-20+ minute epics, while having same generic inring story and spots
"Im da best guy/gal and im happy to be here" is 4/5 wrestlers character.
Stephanie and her nauseating "philanthropy is future of marketing" quote and constant 4th wall/immersion breaking promos and packages.
Refusing to listen to crowd reactions and book accordingly.
As someone who was 70/30 on liking/hating cenas 10 yr reign, to see it done much more stubbornly with someone who lacks even an iota of charisma and charm he had is a major factor of me not watching. I enjoy Reigns too! Its just the wrong spot for the man.
Over saturation. Too many shows with too much runtime. We had feuds in the past that would run 4-6 months while still feeling fresh. Current day wwe blows their load within 1 month while advertising the same ****ing matches for the next 8 weeks.

The sports channel which regularly gave us all WWE shows including ppvs (with one or two week delay) and Impact! suddenly just dropped them in favor of showing MMA basically every night instead. Now I think the cable company dropped the channel as well. I'm catching up with the events through the forum and Youtube clips.
Really miss the shows. I don't think I'd would have dropped it because the horrible booking and bad storytelling, although it pains me to see wrestlers I love being used so horribly.

A few things.
1. General Burnout - this happens every few years for me, the Reign of Terror gave me a nice long break, seems like the Roman reign will do it again.
B. Way Too Many Hours to Watch - whenever I do watch now, I generally enjoy it, but there’s just too in one week, so I tend to only watch PPVs at this point
3. Authority Figures - sadly, I don’t think that’s ever going to end
4. My Favorites never getting proper elevation - it’s hard to root for guys that constantly get the rug pulled out from under them.
I’ll watch on occasion still and mostly watch PPVs, but nothing feels important any more, so I mostly only truly pay attention during things like the Royal Rumble since it’s my favorite match type.

I'm currently not watching, and it's because eventually I got tired of feeling like I cared more about it than those writing it do. The same reason I quit Dexter and The Walking Dead. I know it's wrestling, it's not going to be nominated for its grand achievements in storytelling, but I do expect SOME effort. They have potentially the greatest roster from top to bottom throughout the entire history of wrestling, and they're wasting them on such uninspired, boring, and intelligence insulting trash. There's too many companies putting on better wrestling shows to waste time getting myself upset over this garbage.

Wow so many responses and reasons. But I thought WWE gives their fans what they want...weird.
To answer your question I havent paid a cent to watch them for almost 6years now. If there is a viewing party at a friends place I'll watch the PPV, anything else will be watched on youtube.
What drove me away was the company giving us the middle finger for almost two decades now.

I started watching when I was 2 years old (1990) and finally took a break at 17 (2005) during my first serious relationship. Tried my best to keep up online from 2005-2007, but I missed quite a bit. Finally returned shortly after the 2007 Rumble for the build to WM23. There was also about a year from the summer of 2012 to the summer of 2013 that I also missed due to family stuff going on.
And honestly, I think it comes down to the fact that as a kid and a teenager, I had far more free time to work with, evidenced by the fact that I barely missed a show for the first 15 years I was watching. As soon as adult responsibilities kicked in, however, that's when I started going stretches without watching. And even today, I can't say that I catch every single show every single week. That's just life sometimes.
