Public Enemy and the Nasty Boys were a pair of teams who were chubby, unathletic, couldn't work, couldn't cut much of a promo, yet had a strange charisma to them that always got them over. Public Enemy let such a bad taste in the wwf that all former ecw guys were tested their first day in to see if they could have normal matches.

Nah, Test was a decent worker that you could usually count on, before he became 95% roids. Public Enemy and the Nasty Boys were a pair of teams who were chubby, unathletic, couldn't work, couldn't cut much of a promo, yet had a strange charisma to them that always got them over. They could both fight. Both teams had pretty good brawls with others. That's pretty much it. Both could brawl, and not much else.

Boogeyman. Cant wrestle, has wierd ass promos, had a wierd look and gimmick. I see him as the epitome of this thread, given his weirdness made him so memorable he can still be brought back for one off appearances now.

911. All he could do was chokeslam. If you ever need an example of how Paul Heyman would book guys to their strengths, 911 is the best example. All he could do was chokeslam, but by god what a chokeslam, and that was pretty much all he did.

911. All he could do was chokeslam. The moment he had a match it was so bad that they took him off tv.

Mikey Whipwreck. Could garner sympathy as someone well out of his element.

I'm still wondering if "weird charisma" is an actual tangible quality here, or if it's just guys who had cool entrances or just became memeworthy here and in other circles...

The weird in weird charisma is pretty much indicating that it's hard to quantify just why these guys stood out or were at all appealing, and I'd agree a fair amount came from being in the right place at the right time in terms of having acts that worked better than their actual talents as performers would suggest.

That's a great way of putting it. Add SD Jones to the list. He had a decent look to him, he was like an everyman blue-collar type. But dude sucked in the ring. Yet we liked him. He was charismatic.

How about Gangrel? He wasn't much in the ring, laughable on the mic, and looked like a pudgy, middle-aged porn star, but he still had enough presence to come across as a memorable character. Gangrel looked like he was having the time of his life. His enthusiasm was infectious He wasn't a porn star. He owned and produced it but wasn't acting in them.

Mikey does not belong on this list. He could wrestle and sell right in sync with his character.
Also, there are some Public Enemy ECW promos I still laugh at.
Finally, I really don’t think SD Jones had enough going for him to make this list. Except maybe in comparison to other WWWF jobbers, who were really dull.

Sure, but his whole claim to fame when he first came around was being a dude that by all rights was out of his element. It's not sight, just goin by his character.

Heidenreich. There's really no reason anyone should have given a solitary shit about him after he was released. But somehow we still cared that time he wrestled a Doink in a carpark. Well, he DID have that face run when he was looking for friends and read some of his "disasterpieces." Let's not forget when he came out with a gigantic chocolate bar and had chocolate on his face (I am sure it was makeup, but still). That was actually a fun angle.
