Previous thread here.As we approach the new season, Washington is in the unfamiliar position of having to defend their crown, Vegas is looking to prove that their first season was no fluke, and the rest are hoping to not get mocked mercilessly.

My Questions Is it at least a prince of whales trophy or bust for the Maple Leafs? Will the youth movement of the Rangers exceed expectations and speed up the rebuild? Can Vegas do it again? Are the Blackhawks really done?

Tom Wilson will likely open the season suspended after running Sundqvist with a blindside shoulder to the head. Wilson seems to be getting better, as he earned two suspensions last pre-season for hits to Robert Thomas and Sammy Blais of the Blues. He's still throwing dangerous dumbass hits, but he's hitting less and less important players so that's a plus. And he'll still be suspended, so everything is right with the world. That guy is the new Matt Cooke.

Are the Blackhawks really done? ANSWERS: - No, but they absolutely have to win at least one playoff round - I think NYR is gonna be fun a lot of nights and be terrible on others - the Division is too deep for them to compete for a playoff spot and Hank canβt bail them out anymore - Theyβre probably a playoff team again if MAF is close to as good as he was last year, but I donβt think they go to the Cup again - Yes - Ward/Crawford combo could be just a disaster

I feel like the Kings are heading to a crashing point. It was a good run though.

The Western Conference is going to be a dog fight to the top spots. You really can't pick one team that stands out on that side because there is no many team you can make a case for. My team the Blues look good are starting the season way healthier than last year. I just think how last year we where scrambling for someone to take the final spot on the roster with injuries piled up, and Jagr talks was a big part of it. This year none of that, made a lot of moves that addressed the needs, one of the best single off season one team could have done getting several players to fill getting the much needed Depth in lines. The fact there able to put a player like Jaskin on waviers who last year would never been place there as he was needed that badly, and a player likely to get claimed as he one of those players a lot of teams would look at for 4th line help.
The central alone will be interesting because it's going to be a tough one.

When Scott Darling got injured, I wanted to see if Carolina can call up a goaltender from Charlotte and see if he would be an improvement over Scott & Petr Mrazek.
Granted, Scott did work his ass off losing weight, but I'd be lying if I said he stopped sucking.

Blues released the opening day roster. Seeing Kyrou and Thomas names on there makes me happy.

Two shutout wins for Kinkaid so far this season. He had one the entire season last year.
Granted, he was backup goalie. But with Schneider out injured, it gives Keith the chance to shine.

As much as it pains me to say it the Rangers should do right by King Henrik & trade him to a cup contender. The man is 36, he doesn't have many seasons left to win one & he sure as shit won't win one with us.

The man is 36, he doesn't have many seasons left to win one & he sure as shit won't win one with us. Probably won't happen. Lundqvist isn't great anymore, but his salary is still that of a very good goalie. You'd probably want to trade him West if he goes anywhere, and the teams out West who are decent don't really need a goalie. Vegas, LA, Dallas, Minnesota, San Jose, Nashville, Anaheim, and Winnipeg all have their guy. Edmonton might need a goalie, but don't have the space. St. Louis definitely needs a goalie, but don't have the space. Chicago doesn't have the space. Rangers are stuck with him until Shestyorkin comes over. All 3 of those Russian goalies look like they have elite potential, and while I don't agree, the majority seem to think Shestyorkin is the best of the bunch.
