Do you think the writers of Daredevil Season 3 were thinking to themselves "how do we convince viewers that this is actually happening?". No, they know it's pretend. Wrestling fans know it's pretend. The difference is the former was entertaining, because "fooling" the audience didn't take priority over just making a good show.
And I know I'll get a reply along the lines of "wrestling is different". Nope, not anymore it's not. It's only different in the way it's performed, but it's still every bit as fictional as any tv show or movie now. And the fans know it (and this doesn't make them "smart" or whatever, it just means things have evolved).
I'm not going to tune into Impact over the concept of two people hating eachother for real, because who cares? They're in a fictional universe so that has zero barring on anything. If I start hearing it's a good storyline though, I'd be more inclined to check it out.

"It was 100% real" is pretty much saying "It's a SHOOT, BROTHER!", which means it's actually one million percent fake. Boring.

If Aries returns and somehow brings Neville with him, then it could get interesting, let them feud with Kross and Moose.

Anybody heard Callis’ podcast? Did he admit this is an angle or is he trying to work the marks brother?

Anybody heard Callis’ podcast? Did he admit this is an angle or is he trying to work the marks brother? I had it on in the background, so I might be a little off but he talked about it briefly. Basically said they had a great match, then Aries flipped some people off afterwards and he (Callis) didn't really wanna get in to it too much. But he also tongue in cheek said his heel turn on Omega was a shoot, and when Jericho attacked him last year he said "Jericho gets in a zone and there's no stopping him, not the first time I've been punched by Jericho" Basically he's the same as Jericho, you've gotta take everything with a grain of salt.

He's obviously improved a lot, but seriously, when you're in charge of a supposedly major (I know I know) wrestling promotion, act with a bit of dignity.

Think about when Callis got his biggest run, in ecw as Cyrus, the heel manager who used inside wrestling terms during his promos to fool the internet bro...sigh this bullshit storylines were already lame in the nineties.

Because kayfabe has never ever worked with “shoot” storylines. Thats one of the reasons why wcw got so bad in the end, “Goldberg is not following the script!” Or f***ing Hulk Hogan burning a copy of the wrestling observer.

austinhealyaries @strykerramirez Another “worker” coming on my page to make a f***ing comment. You must figure you’ll never be in the same locker room as me, much less the ring. Looking at you, I’ll say that’s a safe bet... go back to being a ticket buying fan, where you belong. http://instagr.am/p/BpcXoPmn8HT Stay Classy, Aries. That was kinda funny. So weird for wrestlers to insult each other, when one day you do aspire to work with them, or at least be on the same show as they are.

Yeah, I really don't mind stuff like joking that the Omega thing was real. There's no harm in using a podcast to push an angle. The only thing I don't care for is Aries jumping up right after the match, if that is a legit attempt at a worked shoot that's what took it from being Punk's Pipebomb into WCW 2000 territory. But, Callis on his podcast is very clearly being tongue in cheek about things, it's not like Arn Anderson on DVD's where you can tell he is 100% trying to convince you that shit was real, even as every other talking head is acknowledging on the SAME DVD that it's a work.

Yeah, it is weird when guys refuse to break kayfabe when others willingly do... but I understand it. And if it's Callis' story, why would he reveal that it's fake? That doesn't make sense. I do get why they would do it at the biggest show of the year, since that's when you have the best chance of hooking people to watch the show afterward. Was worth a shot, not sure if the execution worked like they wanted though.

The biggest angle set up at the fallout episode of that event was Eddie Edwards answering the challenge of Austin Aries, his arrival into the main event scene and it lead to a title match for the August 9th episode.
July 19th Episode: 275,000 viewers
July 26th Episode: 299,000 viewers (post-Slammiversary episode) August 2nd Episode: 248,000 viewers August 9th Episode: 168,000 viewers August 16th Episode: 210,000 viewers August 23rd Episode: 212,000 viewers August 30th Episode: 225,000 viewers (ReDefined episode) September 6th Episode: 236,000 viewers September 13th Episode: 258,000 viewers September 20th Episode: 229,000 viewers September 27th Episode: 222,000 viewers October 4th Episode: 190,000 viewers October 11th Episode: 183,000 viewers October 18th Episode: 189,000 viewers (post-Bound For Glory episode) October 25th Episode: 98,000 viewers
An increase of 6,000 viewers for the fallout episode of the biggest show of the year. That is F***ing weak.

The highest rating post Slammiversary was the episode that had Bahh challenging for the title, Im still confused why they havent pushed him and KM(at least for the tag team titles).

Ideally, i'd have them drop it to KM and Bahh and then they immediately drop it to Moose and Killer Kross

I think the OGz will somehow win the titles(they go over the Lucha bros and break up in the process), and then they drop them to KM and Bahh. Moose and Kross will probably be main eventers next year by going over the Wolves(Davey Richards already said he is coming back, and can help both Moose and Kross look like million bucks). Going back to Aries...
