Oh great, they landed Joey Ryan. 😐😐😑 Im not surprised. Dude had been on the YB and Cody’s collective consensual penis from day one. Also the fact that Joey is basically an elder statesman of SoCal wrestling and has worked with, befriended, and/or trained and mentored nearly everyone to come out of there in the past two decades. I swear, some people act like dude's career started with the Dick Stuff.

But in Joey Ryan's defense I totally agree with you, All Elite seems to be based upon forming strong connections with all corners of the wrestling industry. This whole thing started with New Japan, they all left on good terms from Ring of Honor, they have friends in Impact due to Don Callis, clearly a healthy relationship down in Mexico by their ability to book a number of Luchadors, and even helping to give exposure to the Chinese wrestling scene with their OWE alliance. Now add to that the guy who pretty much runs the SoCal Wrestling Scene? It's a smart move, so long as he keeps his dick out of it...

As someone who has been a fan of his for years, and has been on friendly terms with him, I get your point. I can probably name one or two matches of his, yet I'll show people dozens of his Dick Spots. My argument was more with the post I quoted, because, to be honest, the Bucks, Sky, and Kazarian might not be where they are if it wasn't for Joey. And by extension, Cody and Hangman. And Marty.

The worry comes from Joey Ryan's use on All In. Nonsense like Dick Druids, while hilarious, just aren't going to translate to the masses well. I want this company to do well and not shoot itself in the foot because they feel the need to get a joke in that's gonna fall flat on a larger scale. I understand we're not there yet. Just hoping this doesn't go that way. The current form of his character would just not work in today's current climate. He toes that "offensive" line too often for most advertiser. I do think he can tame it down and still be entertaining. You can do a lot with innuendo, while dropping the over the top shtick Honestly, I think in today's world Joey's brand of "offensive" is the type that would fly better than many others, especially since he isn't afraid of making himself the butt of any number of jokes in the midst of his gimmick.

AEW clearly trying to bring as much as possible the best from all over the world. Joey Ryan can be fine and likely won't being doing much of his "Dick" stuff because of the TV network and knowing how it would effect possible business. This isn't the same as All in when you are trying to do a regular TV show, on a Big network, funded by a Billionare who is going to hope turn profit in a few years. I'm sure it's going to take time to start making some real profit. Right now there spending to get all the talent and ext together. To pay that debt and have anything left over will take time because they still have to sell tickets and ext on the regular. If Joey's Dick stuff is what keeps a sponsor from coming in, they will have to stop.

Sounds like ROH holds the rights for the "All In" show, and AEW is trying to buy it from them. Since ROH provided so much to make the show happen, that was a concession Cody/YB had to make. Same for Okada and Omega working the show and it being available on NJPWWorld.
If reports are true, the price tag was higher than expected, but AEW should eventually come to an agreement. I would assume this would go on some kind of streaming service in the future.

So who do you figure will be the top heel in AEW? Jericho. Ideal for me would be positioning Jericho as such early on while you get everything established but working to eventually move the ball to PAC.

He's literally the only top heel that makes sense, yeah. At the least, initially. It could end up changing once the audience has a chance to get to know some of the other folks, Jericho's availability, etc.

Dude could end up being a manager with a stable some day and make some waves too.

How many championship are they going to have? I figure when they started, they would have a world, tag and women title. Can't see them having a mid card or Jr. Heavyweight title until later on.

Just wanted to pop in and join in the MJF love. Dude's ceiling is so high, it's ridiclous. He just has an air around him that a lot of heels in wrestling right now don't have.

Honestly, I think they SHOULD start out with a JR. Heavyweight title. It would be one thing to set them apart from what everyone else in the States are doing. Kind of like how the X Division used to, and should always have been booked.

I think it'd be cool to have one, but at the same time, guys like PAC might be better served as world champ material, themselves, him especially.

Most definitely, but if they establish a jr Heavyweight division first, or at least concurrently with the Heavyweights, and treat it as important as New Japan does, that could go a LONG f***ing way to differentiate themselves from other American companies.
