Yeah, teams are not going to put themselves in hostage for years to keep a guy like the Orioles are with Chris Davis. Players got to realize that the time for getting money and years is over at least for now
They can talk about these stats hindering players but I think it did the opposite as guys like Shin So Choo and Jason Heyward got big money thanks to metrics
Bryce turned down a reported $300 million and 10 year deal from the Nats so the money is their, he tried his luck in free agency and wants to play the waiting game, same with Machado

Personally think the Nats might have unintentionally dodged a bullet with him passing on their deal

Call up Robles and hope the excellent pitching you got carries you through

Choo signed ages ago. Heyward signed in 2015, when the market seemed to still be strong. It wasn't until the next off-season that the market seemed to go down, as you'll remember with Cespedes being the main guy who expected to get a huge deal and left with a modest one. Then last off-season was pretty lean. This off-season is very lean, from top to bottom outside of Bryce who is a megastar and was expected to set all sorts of records and won't come close. Olbermann on Twitter is outright accusing the owners of collusion. I do believe it goes beyond market correction, as this seems to be a league-wide decision to lower contract offers in the last 3 seasons for guys from the very top to very mediocre players. Too coordinated to be a mere coincidence.

The NL is probably the best place for Gray. Only thing better would be a NL west team so he be on the coast.

Gray to the Reds is done. They also agreed to a three year extension. Reds are also changing their name to the Expendables.

Maybe the lack of DH will help him but Cincinnati is a bandbox and his home/road splits could be just as drastic as it was with the Yanks Either way they got a good infield prospect bat and a draft pick so replenishing the system a bit

So, I wonder who the sticks in the mud who don't vote for Rivera in the HOF are going to be. Because there's going to be at least one guy who wants to put himself over as the person who prevented someone from getting an unanimous selection.

They need to get these petty people outta there

That guy said he changed his mind since then. Anyway, looks like Mariano, Mussina, Edgar, and Halladay are in.

Sort of surprised by Roy as I thought he would fall short the first time but it's going be a nice thing for his family to honor him again after his death last year
As usual the interest is where does Bonds and Clemens stand in terms of votes

Rivera deserves it. But so did so many before him... something about a reliever (even the greatest one ever) being the very first unanimous that feels funny, but it had to be somebody and at least that barrier has finally been broken.
Also glad about Edgar and especially Mussina. Not to mention Halladay on the first ballot as well. Great class.

Mo got 100%?! Yes! Yes! You respect the King and kiss the rings!!
They're should have been a uninanimous HOFer already, but damn he deserves it.
