More people have been on the moon (12) than have gotten an earned run off of Rivera in the postseason (11).

The baseball hall of fame is a joke and the BBWOA are grudge holding jackasses.

Nothing personal but Mussina being in before Bonds, Clemens and Schilling is pretty ridiculous

Nothing personal but Mussina being in before Bonds, Clemens and Schilling is pretty ridiculous Those 3 guys sit at 60% and the only slam dunk next year is Jeter
If they can reach 65% they should get in 2 before their 2 years are up in regards to Bonds and Clemens
Schilling probably gets in next year but they writers def made him wait for his post career antics and shit he has said

They're should have been a uninanimous HOFer already, but damn he deserves it. This just fascinates me. I mean, who was the person who thought Babe Ruth wasn't worthy? Or thought that Willie Mays or Hank Aaron didn't do enough? Who voted to deny Joe DiMaggio or Sandy Koufax the honor? I'm pretty sure it was a Boston sportswriter who denied Ted Williams the 100% (spiteful asshole sportswriters have been around in Boston almost as long as baseball has) but I can't imagine why so many other were denied.

Or even a more recent example like Ken Griffey
People expected him to get 100%, got all the numbers you want and in an era where damn near everyone got caught, his name is almost squeaky clean
I believe he missed 100% by 3 votes

Actually Shaughnessy had a good relationship with Ted (it helped that Ted was long retired when Dan broke in). In fact when Dan's then 8 year old daughter was diagnosed with leukemia Ted routinely called to cheer her up (she's cancer free today). My earlier joke was in reference to this From Wikipedia:

I dunno man, as a Dodgers fan I have to vent a bit. 2 WS losses in a row, and this offseason has been not so great. If Kelly is who he was down the stretch and the rumor about him fixing mechanics, great, but the Puig/Kemp trade needs to clear room for someone better than a "how many games will he play?" Pollock as rumored. Marlins have apparently come down from their ridiculous asking price of Bellinger for Realmuto, and Machado's dad says we made an offer. I know this is the irrational/emotional fan and me but I just want...something. If people are gonna slam us as the west coast Yankees or whatever the front office should act like it at least a little lol.

In saying that as a fan, I understand a "downgrade" is hard but they've done a lot these last few years and been contenders for at least 5. Eventually, a time is going to come where you have to dial it back a bit
They had Grineke/Kershaw leading the rotation for a while
Traded for Darvish and Machado in back to back years
They have been the West Coast Yankees wheeling and dealing but the reserves can only last so long. They still have young talent in Seager and Bellinger plus pitching

Also, with Edgar Martinez being a DH, I think that opens the gates to other DH-types in the future. Like my guess is David Ortiz will definitely be a Hall of Famer versus before when I thought it was a lot more questionable. Granted, he still has the PED allegations which might hurt him some (though given most of the media's love affair with him, I doubt it), and he might not be a first ballot guy, but after yesterday, his chances of getting in are significantly higher than before.

I think people have moved past Big Papi and the PED allegation and he most likely will be a first ballot HOF due to him being the best DH ever
I'll be surprised if there is a lot of controversy surrounding the PED allegations as there wasn't really any noise on that as his career ended

Roy Halladay’s plaque will not feature a Blue Jays or Phillies logo. That is the slap in the face to the Blue Jays fandom. He is a Blue Jays as far as I am concern, if I am a Blue Jays fan I would feel slighted.

Giants sign Drew Pomeranz. Hopefully he’s healthy, because it wouldn’t be hard for anyone to beat out Samardzija or Suarez. Also, this is probably just front office man talk but sparked a little hope the Giants just may swoop in as a “mystery team” for one of the big two. twitter.com/extrabaggs/status/1088201199680073729

He is a Blue Jays as far as I am concern, if I am a Blue Jays fan I would feel slighted. As a lifelong Jays fan, I mean yeah. That does kind of sting a bit. There's interviews from the past where Doc said he wanted to go in as a Blue Jay, which is part of what prompted him to sign a one-day contract with the team so he could retire a Jay. But that being said, the part that stings the most is he's not around to stand on that stage with his plaque.
