Whenever people bust out this comparison when a wrestler gets really hot, it really sort of undersells the fact that Austin from 1997-1999 has a strong argument for being the most over wrestler OF ALL TIME. Becky's been on fire for the last several months but if you're like "I see a lot of Austin in her", it's a reach. I don't think it's a reach to say that as there are similarities and parallels since she's adapted this more aggressive character. I will say though, even as a big fan of hers, that it's a reach to say that she can have the same impact and popularity as Austin did. Becky is very over but not to that extent.

Yeah, she's not going to bring a new boom period or anything. No one is. This has just been nice for Becky fans because so many of us have known for a while now she's one of the best talents in the company and she's now able to really show it. Go back to any SDL thread from even a year and a half ago when they weren't doing anything with her and even then we were itching for her to be treated like a star.

Who cares?
Becky is Becky and Becky rocks. She’s the best thing in WWE since 2013 and the only thing that’s got me truly engaged.
If she isn’t the seismic shift that was Austin, who cares. She’s just awesome.

The only way I can see Becky reaching Austin's level of popularity is if she comes out on Raw with an Avocado Juice Truck and then spraying Ronda and her friends with it.

Well, that’s 2002 Austin, technically, but it is arguably the only part that could be seen as good... Supermarket fights.

I’d say she’s 1996/Early 1997 Austin. She’s popular, but that doesn’t mean she’s done being a heel. She still has to face someone that’s just as if not more beloved in Asuka, and you know damn well that they’ll want Becky to be the heel in that feud whenever it happens. Especially if they want to rearrange it so that Becky faces Ronda at Mania.

In terms of what she means to the business? Of course she's not Austin. No one ever will be again. But in terms of what it means for her career, then the parallels are there. She is taking this opportunity and just knocking every single ball out of the park. She's creating a character that fans adore, and that they genuinely expect to see f*** shit up.
One thing about this that I really love? Seeing the excitement of Becky's co-workers and peers, when they talk about her current run. Big Show talking about getting goosebumps, Sami, Big E, Sheamus and Rusev talking her up on social media, even Austin, Jericho and Edge & Christian praising her on their podcasts. Seems like everyone is so pumped for her to get this opportunity.

She's adored by her fans because she always has time for them and all of the other wrestlers seem to love her as well. I believe the main reason no one wants to boo her is because she's like a big kid in a good way.

Dunno if she will be even in the best case (wrestling not as popular, everything aligned for SCSA), but the biggest reason is i don't think the WWE knows how to.
The fact that they kept getting in their own way with Bryan is recent enough history for me.
And I suppose the other thing is she needs a proper foil, and i don't necessarily mean a McMahon. He needs an equivalent to heels like The Rock or HBK. So unless they straight up make Ronda kayfabe corporate champion (ie. A heel), who knows.
I just don't have faith they can catch lightning in a bottle.

Go back to any SDL thread from even a year and a half ago when they weren't doing anything with her and even then we were itching for her to be treated like a star. I've been on the Becky bandwagon pretty much since the start and like a ton of people didn't understand why they were always so reluctant to get behind her. She's good in the ring, good on the mic, looks great, is charismatic and naturally very likeable. Like what else do you need? Literally every top star box is checked. I know that sometimes there's other factors that prevent great talents from getting to the top despite having the intangibles to get there whether it be being too injury prone or having a bad attitude but neither one of those things were ever an issue with Becky so you can't even point to things like that for why she was underutilized for so long. She's by all accounts a very nice lady outside the ring and isn't someone you have to worry about doing something stupid and getting into trouble or being problematic backstage, and until now she never missed time due to an injury and in this case it was because of an inexcusable screw up from someone else in which she was punched full force straight in the face by someone double her weight. Nobody would be able take that without getting some kind of an injury. I've said it in another thread but I think them suddenly being so behind her now is because of the heel turn as it's led to her getting a character that Vince likes and can relate to more. Either way the long wait, while frustrating, as made it more rewarding especially for people who have been fans of hers for while.

2018 Becky = 2018 Becky she's doing her own thing and it's incredible.
