Hypothetically, if AEW wasn't a thing and Cody & The Bucks were WWE bound at the moment, the exact same thing I'd imagine would be happening. Those contracts were - by ROH's own admission - their largest. With all this money freed up and some of their biggest stars leaving, signing an influx of exciting proven talent is the smart thing to do.
EDIT: We saw something somewhat similar in the end of 2013/start of 2014 with the departure of The Wolves/Steen and the arrival of a grip of post-TNA talent and promising indie names.

Turns out Rush was never under contract with MLW, so ROH were within rights to pick him up.

On the bright side, this roster turnover has me more interested in ROH than I've been in quite awhile, and with the MSG show on the horizon it makes me even happier to have a ticket. I'll always have a hard time overcoming my distaste for Sinclair Broadcasting, but more places being able to hand out full time contracts is good for the wrestlers. Downside...man, I do feel for MLW. They're stuck in a weird in-between place where they're bigger than many smaller companies but not quite at ROH's financial level, so stuff like this is going to be inevitable for them. I hope they manage to walk the tightrope and thrive, but this is going to be a challenge. I think ROH will win the war if they change Vinny Marseglia to a man that transforms in to a pig at night named The Porking Found his new theme music: "Pig yeah! I'm a pig, yeah! I'm a pig, yeah!"

Court's making rookie mistakes after 20 years in the biz

Never have a talent without a contract and making sure he'll be staying I could be wrong, but I think it has something to do with the fact that Court was using both AAA and CMLL talent that he wasn’t able to sign Rush. He was walking a very fine political line and it bit him in the ass

I don't know if it is possible to make spoiler tags in this forum. But if you like to know what they done with the new talents at the TV tapings (Atlanta) of the last weekend, here are some pictures twitter.com/willh94/status/1084259246223618050Otherwise things will be aired the next weeks on their site and fite.
I like what they done, they've chosen the right people if they want to do something good. It's a random collection, but I am intrigued. The signing of Rush is also neat.

Not a spoiler since it's public knowledge they're doing ROH more often now, but I'm glad Juice and Finlay are going to get more time stateside. Those two have put in an insane amount of miles flying to and from Japan, they've earned a bit of time back home...plus, Juice can more easily defend the US belt around the states, which was its original intent, anyway.

I take it this is going to be the squad that will take on Bully Ray's Bullies (or whatever the 5 guys who attacked the Elite at their final show will be called)? I like it. Love Sauce wearing the Hausu shirt.

The MLW/ROH/CMLL story is nuts. $200,000?!
On the bright side, maybe that type of money means BeIn Sports is legitimately invested in MLW, so here's hoping that means positive things going forward.

This is the most excited I’ve been about ROH in years. I'm cautiously optimistic. The roster additions are great, now make them MEAN something. I need these dudes in storylines that I can sink my teeth into. That's where ROH hs been lacking for a good long while.
