Yes Scott, nobody had ever seen Latino wrestlers portray gangbangers, how original. And the Undead Realm "Sci-fi? Really?

Scott D'Amore on going more digital in 2019: "We're confident that the passionate fanbase we have is going to find the product, whether it's on Pursuit, or whether it's we're working on some digital delivery systems to try to make sure we can get the show out to that passionate fanbase. This is the first of many things you're going to see here in the early parts of 2019."

I only hope what Scott meant is that they will finally fix the GWN and use Pluto, Twitch more.

It really says a lot about how far Impact has fallen when the Wikipedia article of the channel they're on is only four sentences long.

I really feel that was some restrictions by Pop TV, Lucha Underground was also a PG rated show yet they had tons of blood and mature stuff. Its fine if they get rid of the PG rating. Russo is banned from the wrestling industry, no one wants him. If anything could see Konnan getting promoted(He also books AAA and MLW). The thing that allows LU to get away with the things they do is in large part due to who owns El Rey....Robert Rodriguez. From all the interviews with the producers and show runner the one thing Robert wanted more than anything out of LU was not to be like any other wrestling program and also helps they have IMO the best writers amongst any televised wrestling show. The writers definitely help, but the key thing that I can't stop harping on is tone. Lucha Underground shows that you can do genre pro wrestling in a serious capacity, not just with comedy promotions like CHIKARA or Kaiju Big Battel. it does this through 100% commitment to treating it like a TV show instead of like a wrestling show, dropping all the carny notions of kayfabe and "working the marks" to deliver a television product that's tonally consistent the whole way through and treats itself as a fictional universe. Talking about pushing themselves into science fiction is laughable because the picture is immediately undercut when we return from the Undead Realm to see Callis and Matthews at the commentary table scratching their heads because that was "weird". You can do realism or you can do genre, you can't just do both and split the difference.

Exactly LU was built off the idea that everything that happens in LU can only happen in LU , they know and understand what they are and they go nuts in a universe they built as they should because they created it....but they don't just do shit to do it , every single thing in LU happens for a reason...something is always tied into something else....they plant the preverbial seeds for something seasons ahead because they have already thought 2-3 seasons ahead....and this will be where Impact fails and fails again because they lack it ......Competent writing. Taya goes from a woman who looks like she descended from asgard in her debut in Impact....all of a sudden where is La Wera Loca.....no explanation at all We have made fun of it plenty of times but....hey Josh your wife is being stuffed into a casket she is gonna die...you wanna help? no? gonna right back to your job with no aknowledgement your wife just died? okay cool And your example with the undead realm.....IT IS THE UNDEAD REALM......WHY THE f*** ARE YOU AKNOWLEDING A PLACE THAT EXSISTS TO NO ONE EXCEPT BY LITERALLY GETTING INTO A CASKET.....DID THE CAMERA MAN GET IN THERE TO? WHAT ABOUT THE LIGHTING PEOPLE. As you said they have no idea what they want to be.

Lol I remember when fans asked Josh on twitch about his thoughts of Madison being put into a casket, and all Josh did was chuckle at the comments, he couldve at least say she was sent to the shadow realm, I agree that Impact lacks consistant writing.
The Taya stuff couldve easily explained by having Taya say she needed to go back to her roots to see if she can get out of the losing streak and challenge for the KOs title for example.

That was Dixie who had a crush on him though.

Nobody is cancelling their cable and going to satellite just because of Impact. People aren't going to wait around two weeks for the latest episode of Impact online. I'm one of those passionate fans you're talking about and guess what? After January 3, I'm done with Impact until it's on a channel people actually get. I understand soin but Scott and Callis spin is like spraying perfume on dog crap. No matter what, it's still dog crap.

At what point us it conceded that the 3 Amigos haven't steadied the ship or got it back on course, they just got more effective at bailing out for a while. The only problem was the ship was still taking on water and now they're starting to be swamped again. I was very hard on the 3, Callis especially, early on but even I had to admit that while I didn't like what they were doing, things calmed down for a while. The fact remains though none of them are qualified or have the skills to do what they planned to achieve. Callis' skills are in running a small indy and terrible commentary. Well, he's got anothet small indy now. TNA used to be a company where neo-nazis threatened and intimidated crew members into working without pay, wrestlers were owed tens of thousands of dollars in back pay and let out of their contracts rather than paid back, and shows only happened because of fraudulent loan agreements made with a washed up rock star. They might not have achieved their goals, but there's no way you can argue they've not improved a lot of things here, even if it's just getting back to a baseline of generally not being a colossal f***-up ruining the lives of everyone around it. I didn't think I had argued they hadn't improved things but if that was the case, then point conceded. What I was leaning at was there was an initial flurry where people felt Callis et al could do not wrong and everything would get better, and that it's turned out there were more holes than they could plug.

Also, who do we expect to take over who has experience? Literally the only people out there who have wrestling company ownership experience who aren’t dead or work for WWE/don’t want to annoy Vince are Jerry Jarrett, Eric Bischoff and Jim Cornette, literally the people who had their shot and either bailed or were pushed out. There’s nobody else you can look at who isn’t running a smaller Indy in some way and go “Yes, THEY should run Impact Wrestling now!” There wasn't anyone to be honest. TNA was in such a position that I don't think Jim Barnett, Eddie Graham and Pat Patterson with peak Ted Turner chequebook could turn it around. The only long shot they could have taken was getting someone similar Kip Frye or Chris Kreski, an outsider with ideas and a balanced approach to give a fresh perspective and hopefully not just rehash the ideas of others. Really it should have been sold to WWE in its entirety when the offer was potentially there.

Callis: Doesn't care what people who don't understand the move think. They have their reasons. Like D'Amore kind of indicates Pop was never really a good fit for what they want to do with the show. Felt the best way to keep a good relationship with Pop was to leave. He also indicates they will be going in a much more "edgier, hardcore and sexier" direction and maybe more programming. Says if you're not in the US, watch through GWN. Fight Network in Canada. Plugs Homecoming and aims to top Slammiversary. Teases a few surprises. www.podcastone.com/killing-the-townFrom this week's Observer: "Essentially it appears Anthem put the show on its own channel, and not even in a strong time slot, which says they couldn’t make a deal to keep the show on the air. It is not a secret that there were forces attempting to sell Impact to AEW a few months ago, but that proposal was turned down." I am gonna wonder what those "forces" are that were attempting to get Impact sold to AEW. I'm gonna guess everyone in Anthem not Ed Nordholm. EDIT: It's also funny that the ones who turned down Impact being sold to All Elite wasn't Anthem, but All Elite.

It says to me that Anthem doesn't see much value in them if they are putting it on a Z list channel and at a Death Slot.
