I just got back from a midnight screening. It was a major step up from Homecoming. The high school drama was there, but it wasn't the main focus. The film was slow in the first half, but it did pick up in the second. I had fun. {Spoiler}{SPOILER: CLICK TO SHOW}I like that JK Simmons is also Jameson in this version. And how he is now an Alex jones type of character. I think I said out loud "what the f***" when he revealed Peter is Spidey.

Well that was a fun movie. They did leave you on a major conflict hanger, and I want to see what happens next.
I still think it is very unlikely that this Ned, this comic relief character will turn evil. I doubt they would do that, thought if they did, interesting to see how they can make that transaction.

It’s a minor nitpick but... {Spoiler}...can Spidey have some villains that don’t exist because Stark pissed them off? First Vulture and now Mysterio. I’m kind of really hoping after Spider-verse that they bring Kingpin over from tv to be Spidey’s next foe. With all of the Deadpool and Venom rumors, I’d rather Spidey team up with Daredevil.

{Spoiler}So Dmitri is totally going to become Chameleon, right? Like wasn't that obvious? Meanwhile I just read an Easter Egg article and they said "could he be a nod to the Crimson Dynamo?" What? No!

I enjoyed it. There were some parts that didn’t fully click with me, but overall - I left the theater happy.

Ned was more a victim of the Hobgoblin than an actual villain. Yeah, it was eventually revealed Ned was brainwashed into thinking he was hobgoblin not that he actually was him.

Went this morning and had a blast. I took my teenage niece and I’ve never seen her so happy coming out of a movie.
Night Monkey had me dead.
Oh and those were some huge credits scenes. I loved the way they set up the next film.

What? No! {Spoiler}{Spoiler}Something tells me Dmitri/Chameleon will be instrumental in the next film in proving Peter and Spidey are two different people.

That left me wanting more than Infinity War did. Better than Homecoming and Jake Gyllenhaal was on par with Keaton.
I’ll be seeing this again Sunday.
I’d rank the Spider-Man films.
1) Spider-Man (Aged poorly, still a classic) 2) Spider-Man 3 (I can’t defend its faults, but I just really like it) 3) Far From Home 4) Spider-Man 2 (you can start the movie at the cafe scene and lose nothing) 5) Homecoming 6) Amazing Spider-Man 7) Amazing Spider-Man 2 (Hot Garbage)
Spider-Man is my favorite superhero, so outside of AS2, I’d probably rank most of them over a lot of the MCU and other recent superhero films.
...and no I’m not trolling over 3, if all the DVDs were sitting in front of me. I’d probably put that one in before the others and that’s how I ranked them. I know it’s not as good as a “film”.
I feel this way about Origins and Last Stand, I’d rather watch those other X2. X2 was a bore, that was mostly a retread of the first film. Last Stand and Origins were loud and obnoxious but at least the movies tried to do something interesting. Plus Origins has Gambit in it. So it wins by default.

I dont know if this was already explained, but why was the film released on a Tuesday? (Aside from making it easier for M Bison to catch it)

Zendaya's MJ was one of my least favorite parts of Homecoming, but she was one of my favorite parts of Far From Home. She and Tom Holland have a very adorkable chemistry. I thought her snarkiness, which I loathed in the first movie, was toned down and used a lot better in this movie.

The Mysterio scenes in the 2nd half of the movie were incredible. Worth the price of admission and IMAX 3D upgrade on their own.

I loved this movie. I feel like they handled things as well as could be to explain how the world moved on after the snap. {Spoiler}{SPOILER: CLICK TO SHOW} However, my favorite moment in the entire movie was the villain reveal, or the villain team reveal, rather. That was genius. I was probably more shocked to see the "Tony Stark built this in a cave with a box of scraps..." guy then I was to see J. Jonah Jameson. I never expected to see that guy again. It made the world feel smaller and more real.

Seeing the Mysterio illusion stuff realized on screen was great; especially in Imax.
I didn't even put the Dmitri connection together, but yes. Interesting that he currently looks kinda like Kraven too which would make sense for him to emulate.

The film was cromulent. However the mid and post credits scenes definitely took it up a notch. 7/10.

I was worried going into the theaters because this film was getting only decent to ok reviews. But after seeing it, I think it's more because it had the misfortune of coming directly after "Avengers: Endgame" which really wasn't so much a movie as it was three hours of mark out moments followed by more awesome mark out moments built up over the last 11 years. I think for a lot of people, it was a bit jarring to go back to a fairly normal superhero movie. "Avengers: Endgame" was an event. "Spider-Man: Far From Home" was a movie, and a really good one.
