I liked it but to be fair, it ended up working well because Omega accidentally got his nose busted during the match. That made it more believable for me. In the future, he should hit it with the guy coming forward with more momentum. I would loved to see it as a counter to a V-Trigger or a Rainmaker.

I'm legitimately interested to hear what Cornette and Last have to say about this on tomorrow's podcast. It sounded like Last gave it a thumbs in the middle...I have no clue what Cornette thinks about it since he hates the Bucks and Omega, so we'll see. I'm pretty sure Cornette has pretty much said that he hates WWE's dominance over the industry more than the Young Bucks and Kenny Omega, so my guess is that it's a thumbs to the middle, because you know he's going to be all over the Rhodes match and a few of the other guys he likes.

Him being cool with Jericho will probably also help him stomach the Omega grumpiness.

Was watching the Omega-Jericho finish. A big star like Omega being beat by an elbow was strange. Losing clean against an old guy like Chris to boot and by some sort of transition move just feels wrong to me. Not sure who booked this by I wasn't impressed. If they say they don't want 50-50 booking then one of the biggest free agents that you signed in Omega should be put over as much as possible, viewers should look at him like the greatest. This wasn't a good first impression idea. It's a worked version of something that can knock people out. Granted, I didn't think Kenny did the best job selling it. Pro wrestling is not MMA though. You need to do things more outlandish and spectacular. Jericho could have added it to his repertoir of moves but it doesn't work as a finisher.

I'm up to Cornette's battle royal review and he's going to get a ton of shit about it online but I think his overall point is valid. If this was your first introduction to the promotion, you probably would have turned it off while watching it. The cigarettes, the stapling, the guy doing soft kicks...mind you, I enjoyed it, but there's no way this would fly on a major promotion with the kind of outlet they will have. And it's not something I'd like to see on a weekly basis anyway.
I'll listen to the rest when I get off work, but my prediction is he'll love the Rhodes match, will probably think the Bucks match was too spotty, and he'll be OK with the Jericho/Omega match only b/c of Jericho.

Reading the official recap on AEW’s site, they noted Super Smash Bros. as a “mysterious duo” with a small army of minions.
So they’re playing as though no one knows who they are or what the minions are (though they were already called Heartless on the show).

You're spot on with the Omega Jericho thing haha. Don't read on if you wanna listen for yourself but......he seemed to hate everything except MJF, SCU, the Rhodes match and Jericho. He f***ing LOVES MJF. I agree the battle royal sucked but I don't get the criticism that the "joke" guys shouldn't be in there since it was for a title shot. Did people really think Bushwacker Luke or Warlord were going to win the Royal Rumble? You can't have an all main eventer battle royal. He also didn't like the female ref cos "they wouldn't have a woman reffing a heavyweight boxing match and pulling them apart and risking getting hit." I disagree with this too cos since when were wrestling refs huge or tough? Is anyone scared of Earl Hebner or Mike Chioda? Come on.

Maybe Chioda because he always looked roided up, and even got wellness'd, but given Hebner debuted by getting thrown like a lawn dart, certainly not him.

Haha I don't even remember Chioda getting busted! Seemed such a strange criticism though. I always though they intentionally picked small/"normal" sized refs to make the wrestlers look bigger otherwise it would make more sense to have every match reffed by a 7 footer to maintain control.

They generally do, either smaller or less imposing guys, or former wrestlers like Nick Patrick or Scott Armstrong, or someone like Brian Hildebrand who fit both criteria. Side note, I had no idea Nick Patrick was the son of "The Assassin" Jody Hamilton until looking him up to make sure I was correct he had formerly been a wrestler. (His career was quite brief before refereeing)

I didn't want to create a seperate thread for this, but I think AEW's logo is kinda trash tbh.
It looks like a low-rent parody of the nWo logo...which doesn't make sense for the number 2 promotion in North America to have as their branding in 2019.

The only party I dislike about the logo is that the E tries to be golden and marble at the same time.

The bridge between the two is the Being the Elite logo, which definitely goes for an nWo vibe.

Yeh,can't say the BTE logo isnt a knockoff. The Bullet Club and knocking things off isnt exactly a new thing

I'm trying to listen to Cornette's review of DON, but I...I just can't. I can't deal with him anymore. I love his historical analysis, but just accept that the business has passed you by, man.
