Yes there was, decent Pyro in fact, and nice staging.

I enjoyed the show a lot, really liked Cody vs Dustin, loved Jericho vs Omega, lots of tag-team matches which I found refreshing cause I enjoy tag-team wrestling more than singles matches as a rule. All the right people went over, nobody was made to look bad but the people meant to be stars looked like stars. Loved the middle finger to HHH, but I hope that stays a one time thing and doesn't grow into a theme like in TNA.
However, speaking of TNA, I can't help but feel like AEW are playing it very safe with this show. An authority figure comes out and the match that's about to start on the fly. Said match is already a messy multi-person match so half of the people in it don't factor into the finish. Wrestlers interrupt eachother's promos in the ring and debate eachother rather than fighting. Immediately after the finish of a match someone comes out and beats up both wrestlers to get heat. Someone does a move usually only used for angles to put someone on the shelf but because it's in the middle of a match the victim immediately kicks out. This was not what I expected out of a company that's promoting themselves on being the anti-WWE. With the except of Jericho vs Omega which was a New Japan match and some blood, this was a WWE show. Or at least it would be a WWE show if WWE was good.

That's just Orange; he once entered a ladder match but only brought a step stool because he can't be bothered to go any higher than that. That said, sometimes he's in the ring with someone who suddenly gets him to start moving faster, getting a bit more worked up, and next thing you know he's moving around like a blur. ...But only sometimes. If you can, it's worth going on Fite or Independent Wrestling TV to buy the GCW show he promoted during Mania weekend. It was literally called "Orange Cassidy Might Do Something, or Whatever, Who Knows". Here, this should give you an idea. I want Cornette to see this match.

It appears the The Super Smash Bros will be going by a new name in AEW due to Nintendo owning the name. alright, guess they'll just have to fall back on their other team name: The Saturday Night Slam MastersCrash Carnival should totally be the name of AEW's eventual tournament.

I just read Luchasaurus is played by the guy who was on Big Brother maybe 3 or 4 seasons back. I had absolutely no idea. That's incredible.

Was watching the Omega-Jericho finish. A big star like Omega being beat by an elbow was strange. Losing clean against an old guy like Chris to boot and by some sort of transition move just feels wrong to me. Not sure who booked this by I wasn't impressed. If they say they don't want 50-50 booking then one of the biggest free agents that you signed in Omega should be put over as much as possible, viewers should look at him like the greatest. This wasn't a good first impression idea.

I can't believe I'm saying this, but I want to see what Orton can do away from WWE. I'd like to see a run in AEW. If he nails it, then keep him. If he sucks, let him go. I think a surprise entrance would be best, but I think I great angle is he has to start at the bottom and work his way up.

I think everything I could say has probably already been said, but what a show. This is what pro-wrestling fans have been clamouring for for a long time and if this is just the beginning, well then these are exciting times.
This reminded me so much of prime WCW and I mean that in the best possible way.

Playing with the notion of imagining long term...Orton’s one of the likeliest to jump.

I'm legitimately interested to hear what Cornette and Last have to say about this on tomorrow's podcast. It sounded like Last gave it a thumbs in the middle...I have no clue what Cornette thinks about it since he hates the Bucks and Omega, so we'll see.

Gotta say, the Judas Effect.
Super smart on Jericho's part. A finish that can be hit on anybody that doesn't require you to take a bump? W.
Boy, what a shitty finsh though, hahaha. Yeah, it's a real strike but this is wrestling. Presentation is everything and that looked like shit. And now suddenly, Chris Jericho is a master striker that can KO people with percision strikes like he's Chris Hero or some shit? Nah.

If we know Cornette, he'll rant and rave his usual spiel about how they are exposing and killing the business.

Well, except the dick stuff which set him off something fierce.

The problem with the elbow is that it had no real impact. Slap the thigh or something.
It was just like fwump. 1,2,3. Ok.
