I would recommend watching more NXT and less Raw.

What baffles me the most about this is they have archive footage of these guys up the wazoo, from NXT to partner promotions like EVOLVE or PROGRESS or ICW they can easily get to hype debuts on a 3 hour show and they just...throw people out there. No real build, all out there.
As I said previously, if you don’t care to put the effort into making these people seem like a big deal, the hell should I care to watch them? Especially since they spent more time hyping the debut of No Way Jose of all people.

I've said it before, but they bring guys up from NXT and just throw them out there, have Cole say something about them being from NXT, and do no character exploration whatsoever. In this instance, it may not be so bad for someone like Ricochet, Ciampa or Gargano, or even Black, as their in ring work speaks for itself. But someone like Heavy Machinery or Lacey Evans, who weren't even really superstars on NXT, and are more character-driven, need those vignettes to explain who they are and why we should care.

Counterpoint: treating them as characters that have a history already might convince some people who dont watch it to check it out.

It was just a shit crowd.
WWE really need to stop filming in certain cities.
I’m cool with them treating new guys like a big deal regardless of their reaction.
But they really should be hyping up these debuts for weeks.

The reaction for NXT callups would have been much different had they been in say Chicago or New York or Philadelphia.

You know what's bizarre?
The thought process behind just bringing up NXT guys with no real introduction besides, "sup, we're here" is that people watch NXT and already know these characters...right?
Then, why the f*** did top heel Ciampa wrestle as a total babyface last night, haha? Even to the people they are trying to appeal to, they slap them in the face by booking folks to the exact opposite of how they are used in NXT.

yes. That's why I don't like to play the blame game when a call up doesn't live up to their hype/nxt success on the main roster.

He wrestled heels yes. But the tension between Johnny and Ciampa was still there. Look at how hesitant Johnny is to raise his hand at the end. I’m all for heel vs heel and face vs face matches.

I haven’t watched NXT regularly since about late 2016. I still try to watch the ppvs though.

Seeing/hearing about the NXT people show up these days is just like that time my friends got out of wrestling, which is when the WCW guys showed up in 2001 -- because, unlike me, they never bothered with WCW. I would recommend watching more NXT and less Raw. Which is a good point, probably, except that casual fans have no way to do that except get the Network......being casual fans, I doubt they'll want to do that at all.

I only watch the Takeovers too, but if WWE expects that the casual family just going to the show with their kids to even have the Network, much less watch what’s basically developmental, then they’re full of it.

Counterpoint: treating them as characters that have a history already might convince some people who dont watch it to check it out. Which is probably the most baffling thing about all this for me. They're your dudes. This isn't like you're reinventing the Junkyard Dog after being a hardcore brawler for years in Mid-South Wrestling or someone along those lines. You have these guys as your own talent, you have a tonne of footage to use, you have the means of watching it and finding out the best ways of using them based on those traits and the means of making them look strong. You also have the means of making people want to buy the network to see the future before they come up to WWE TV so then you get to have some kind of recognition of not just their talent but how much they work to get through your developmental system to reach the peak. But they just...don't. And I honestly don't understand why because they own all of it.

Would the world end if they aired a recap of NXT on Raw? Just to hit the high points & introduce the wrestlers? They have three hours to fill. Just seems pretty simple to make these people more familiar.

As an NXT fan, I was happy to see all four get some TV time. I don't expect any of them to stick around except maybe Black or Ricochet.
My biggest problem was having them go over the RAW tag champs and a guy who you were pushing as a top babyface only a month or so ago. The Revival were already dead in the water as tag champs and now they lost to two "rookies" their first time out? C'mon. I love Ciampa and Gargano, but seriously.

Look at the track record for NXT callups in recent years. Of course the casual audience doesn’t care. They all look like goobers once they hit Raw or Smackdown.
