I was really really shocked that Tana lost, especially with the whole "Tanahashi wants to wrestle for the title at MSG" story they've been going with. Really don't want to see either Tana or Okada fighting for or winning the title anytime soon, so while I'm happy SANADA won, I really with Ishii had won too. Ishii vs. SANADA sounds amazing. My favorite thing to come out of New Japan Cup has been the feud brewing between Ibushi and Naito. Other thoughts/short review on Night 11 of the NJC if anyone wants to watch: youtu.be/Wmzr4js7pug

Balls. Missed the first hour because, despite the schedule saying 11 PM PT/2 EST, it apparently started at 11 Mountain as well.

Ok, that was a bit OTT. I mean happy for the result, Juice is such a great baby face, but that was a bit too attitude era.
So in terms of future teased matches, we have Ibushi-Naito, Evil-Ishii, Sabre-Tanahashi for the British title, Ospreay- Taichi for the Openweight and possibly Juice-Fale for the US.
Holy shit Shibata.....

THAT was match of the tournament. It build beautifully to a fever pitch and it’s the best match I’ve ever seen SANADA in. Amazing effort.

I love that White gets treated like a proper villain by this crowd. This is the dynamic that I miss in wrestling.

It appears Tanahashi and Sabre will face each other at MSG.

It seems a bit soon for them to go right back to White/Okada, but since it's the MSG show they need a bigger match. Should have just kept the title on Tana if the idea is Okada regains. That said, in a way the heat will be better if Okada wins, vs. the original idea of him vs. Omega. There would have been a decidedly iffy reaction to him beating Omega, but I think pretty everyone there would prefer him over White.
Good grief, the biggest ROH show ever and NJPW's biggest U.S. show is being headlined by Jay White and Matt Taven.

That was a great main event. I'll still give the slight nod to SANADA's G1 matches with Ibushi and ZSJ, but that was easily his third-best match ever. Also, say what you will about White, but so many would kill for that reaction (especially as a foreigner in Japan).
Small note about Best of the Super Juniors - Ren Narita is noted as participating, but Yuya Uemura is arguing about that decision and saying that he deserves the spot more. So I would expect Narita, ELP, Gresham and Bandido among this year's first-time competitors (and maybe Uemura, but I have my doubts).

Okada again? Put down the crack pipe, Gedo. Yeah, but this is "Slump" Okada. So he's only a 10 to one favorite instead of a 50 to one.
