I went into the last night a bit iffy, since I wasn't feeling Okada vs. SANADA at all, but boy did they prove me wrong. Other thoughts/short review on the final night of the New Japan Cup if anyone wants to watch: youtu.be/rtOSo-2HukU

Interesting. Wonder if they really have Okada lose again to White I’m really torn on what’s gonna happen here. Okada was apparently supposed to beat Kenny at MSG but I have a feeling he was gonna drop it pretty quick to White so I could definitely see Jay winning again here. It’s a straight up toss up for me

Okada has never lost to the same guy three times in a row.

It appears Tanahashi and Sabre will face each other at MSG. When was the last time multiple promotions belts we're defended at MSG?

I mean, it would definitely be interesting to go forward with the idea that White has Okada's number. White beats Okada again, loses to someone else, that someone eventually loses to Okada, and now White has a claim to a shot since Okada has never beaten him.
But, with how popular Okada still is, and considering that this is gonna be the main event at Madison Square Garden, I don't see how White retains here.
Either way, I just hope this all leads to an extended Naito reign somewhere down the line.

Okada has never lost to the same guy three times in a row. Unless your name is Goto, who escapes all rules, no one has. The "rule of three" exists in New Japan and is used a lot in title pictures.
