Obviously by the time Scott Steiner got back to WWE, he was a jacked-up mess, but going against Triple H almost right away didn't help matters and it was all downhill from thence. Would he have done better against guys like the Smackdown 6 or Brock, and would booking have been kinder to him compared to RAW?

If he fixed his foot issue before coming in he would of done a lot better on either brand.

It would have been awkward but not impossible seeing Stephanie was GM and He tried to have sex with her against her will on a table in the middle of the ring in his SD debut but she would only have sex with him once he signed as a signing bonus he didn’t like that idea so he signed with Raw so I’d hope they’d be 2 rational adults have a discussion about boundaries and if that doesn’t work stephanie did have The FBI on the roster if things escalated.

If Steiner had his foot fixed he would been fine on either brand. Without having it fix he wouldn't worked out well either side. Beyond HHH, nobody worked well against him and there was some talent he faced on Raw like Jericho and RVD, guys that can move. The bigger issue is on Smackdown where does he fit as the hot free agent face when he debuted. Brock was the hot face and Angle was the heel.

Smackdown he would have had Heyman on the writing team playing to his strengths and more agile/smaller guys who could work around him and make him seem more imposing.
His RAW tenure was three months against Triple H and, what, SEVEN months against Test?
Plus he would have been able to have more to work with promo wise.
I never considered it, but you might be on to something. Steiner could have faired far better on Smackdown.
Also, Sean O'Haire may have done better on Raw.

Key thing obviously is that he would've had to show up 100%, which he wasn't. Like the majority of people, I believe Smackdown would've been a better fit for him to stand out, away from Triple H's Reign of Terror. However, I understand the logic behind the move to book him on RAW because of how Vince wanted RAW to be more character-centric vs Smackdown being wrestling-centric. By that time, Steiner was more known for his character than his wrestling skills.

On the other hand, Smackdown was a more in-ring oriented product at the time, so it's hard to imagine Steiner being able to keep up with the likes of Benoit, Eddie, Kurt, Brock, and all the other ring generals on the show in 2003. Maybe, they could have covered for his weaknesses better than Hunter and Test did, but Big Poppa Pump should have been a better fit for Raw on paper.

Steiner might have also been a heel on Smackdown, rather than an awkward face just so he could be fed to Triple H. Steiner as a face just doesn’t work, especially since they kept the raging idiot/budding sex criminal aspect of his gimmick intact.

Well, as we all know, things always change when you add Kurt Angle into the mix.

But then we wouldn't have gotten him talking about how terrorisms drew first blood and that he wrestled a lot of countries.
Everybody knows wants to know where he's been...

Big Poppa Pump’s body was done from the injuries, roids, and excessive muscling. He was done regardless.

coming in with his foot all messed up was going to be the end of him regardless.
Smackdown was the Wrestling show it would have been even more obvious how out of step Steiner was.

See, normally if you're booked on Raw or Smackdown, you got a 50/50 chance of succeedin ...

Also, had Steiner been on Smackdown instead, the debate with Nowinski wouldn't have occurred and, subsequently, the 2003 War in Iraq wouldn't have happened, so being on the blue brand could have entirely changed the course of American history.

I don't want to imagine Scott Steiner's WWE run without that hilariously homoerotic pose down segment with HHH.

No. The big problem with Steiner is he was working with a severe injury, one they signed him knowing full well he had, it was clear during the medical. They were so fixated on getting a WCW star to put Triple H over out there that they didn't care that Steiner needs surgery to move around the ring properly, his dropfoot meant he couldn't jump or move in a fluid way, they just wanted Hunter to get that win.
They figured the could get him to quit after that program, or fire him for steroids, they didn't really bank on a lunatic like Scotty bring smart enough to say, 'Sure, I'll take the drug test at the same time as (the equally enhanced) Hunter', and he was never asked again.

Yes because since it was taped they could’ve fixed a lot of bullshit, SD also had better workers like Benoit and Eddie who could’ve hidden his weaknesses.
