Only guy who really could've challenged deGrom for Cy Young is Ryu, and I think recency bias did help deGrom out a lot given how Ryu sputtered out at the end of the season. Otherwise the numbers that matter are in deGrom's favor vs Scherzer, including ERA, IP, WHIP, and WAR. And it wasn't like it was a close race either. Jake got 29 out of 30 first place votes, while Ryu got the 30th.
Strasburg also didn't have anywhere close to as good a regular season as deGrom, Ryu, or Scherzer. He was an absolute beast in the postseason, but again, Cy Young is a regular season award and Strasburg's postseason was completely irrelevant for consideration.

Yes, he had a good season but not a Cy Young season. Wins in 2019 is also not a stat that means much of anything for Cy Young consideration.

Wins is an arbitrary stat that doesn't hold big value in these type of decisions DeGrom ERA is almost a full run shorter than Strausburg despite Stephen pitching only 5 more innings. DeGrom had fewer hits, runs, walks while also having more strikeouts, a better whip, and a better WAR Everything leans toward DeGrom whether basic stats or advanced

I’ll repeat what I’ve already said and say that Davey Martinez should have been nominated and won manager of the year. That’s the award the Nationals should have won.

Meanwhile in international baseball, Japan just got their revenge from the last one and beat Korea to win the 2nd ever Premier12. Can't wait for the Olympics, just to hear all those passionate fans supporting the home team all tournament.

Well, the Red Sox are no longer my most hated team in baseball. Which is a shame as I've always had a softspot for the Astros as the name of my little league team. Now I'm even happier the Nats won.

Decided to do two ballots. One is for who I think I should go in disregarding any controversies: And here's a more "safer" one:

With Derek Jeter being the only first-year nominee who even has a case for Cooperstown, I wonder if this could be the year that the deserving inductees who've been close in recent years (Curt Schilling, Roger Clemens, Barry Bonds) finally receive enshrinement.

Schilling in theory should. He seems to be off the shit list and he got 60% last year with 3 people going in so with Jeter as the only surefire guy Curt has a chance Bonds and Clemens may crack 70% this year if they do they should get in the next year Otherwise nobody else is really close. Larry Walker is in his last year and was sitting at like 55% so some people may try to push him but he falls short

Bonds not being in is a sham. Don’t care about Clemens, but Bonds should be in. Jeter is a no brainer.

I'd probably just vote for Jeter, Clemens, and Bonds on my ballot.

Bonds not being in the Hall of Fame makes that entire entity that is the Hall and the vindictive jackass writers who vote complete jokes. Bonds is the GOAT power hitter. The most feared man to ever pick up a bat. He was enhanced, but so were a large population of everyone else. Pre-juice Bonds was a Hall of Famer on his own merits.

Grandal signs with the White Sox. Deal is four years, $73 mil. He’s very underrated. As long as they have human umps, Grandal is going to be good value (his framing is elite).
I like the White Sox team. They have some good young talent with Moncada, Jimenez, Anderson, etc. They could surprise next season.
