That's awesome. I have to admit, I did wish that Punk would roll into AEW as The Librarian; just have him walk out occasionally, shush everyone, leave, and never, ever acknowledge that it's CM Punk. But...but...what does Peter Avalon do?!

IMO, it would not be that big of a deal-at least not as big as it could have once been. Granted I was never as crazy about him as most fans were, but he has been away from wrestling for so long and his star has taken a lot of damage from his UFC career and him pretty much reveling in being a jerk to fans. I mean people still chant his name at wwe shows to this day so it would be a massive deal. What happens in mma doesn't really affect wrestling in the slightest.

It’s hard not to love the son of a bitch even after his post wrestling shenanigans.

What's absent from virtually all of the reports about this is the context of it all. It was the final wrestling show at a venue that is being torn down soon, that has held independent wrestling for over 25 years, and is the place where Punk, Colt Cabana, Ace Steel, Adam Pearce, Chuck E. Smooth, Daryck St. Holmes and others got their early experience. He wanted to be a part of the final show with all of his friends, without really being a part of the show as himself. That's all this was.

Cool to see Punk in a wrestling setting again, even if it's not full-time.

Knowing Punk, he could very well have handed his hoodie to someone backstage and said "Hey, wanna f*** with the internet marks?" I'm more surprised he and Colt were both there. They work things out, or were they both just there for Ace Steel's sake? Colt wasn't there far as I know, they just mention he started there. Colt Cabana was in Alaska last night with WrestlePro. I can vouch, got to meet him and Mick Foley.

That's kinda sweet actually, and the little bit of buzz it's gotten probably gave a minor bump to a promotion his friends are involved in (I mean, I'll hedge a bet not many of us even knew Silas had a promotion)

AEW has to bring him and secure that Big TV deal with TNT.

AEW has to bring him and secure that Big TV deal with TNT. I think he’d be a huge incentive for fans to watch. Especially casual fans on the fence about AEW. Word would spread and interest would increase. It would be a very smart move if it could be pulled off. I think a program with Kenny Omega would be the way to go with Punk. Have Omega come out the ring for a promo and Punk interrupts him cutting a promo of his own. He talks about Omega conquering Japan. That he’s won the G1 Climax, the most important tournament in Japan, and he’s even won the world title there. That he broke down barriers and became an international star. That Omega might even be the best in the world. But there can only be one best in the world. To prove that CM Punk is still the best in the world he must defeat Kenny Omega. Punk hits the GTS and lays him out. Punk gives a smug smile and walks off. That sets up a big main event match people will instantly care about and want to see.

Just a guy who wanted to say bye to something that meant something to him.

According to Meltzer, when Tony Khan first started getting serious about creating what became AEW he wanted Punk to be the centrepiece. Before he got The Elite and Jericho on board, he was going after Punk.
