Even things from just 10+ years ago don't hold up now. Go!

The Molly Holly virgin angle (as well as the fat-shaming in the same angle). For that matter, the "home movie" on Nitro with fat Torrie Wilson (even worse if you consider Torrie's real life past).

Didn’t Dr. Pepper do a whole campaign with the tag line being, “It’s Not for Women”?

Didn’t Dr. Pepper do a whole campaign with the tag line being, “It’s Not for Women”? That somehow managed to offend both men AND women! They did it to try to appeal, jokingly, tongue-in-cheek, to men. But even jokingly, it's not the best look to say something is 'not for women'. Also I think some men said "wait, Dr. Pepper wasn't 'for men' before, it was 'for women'?" Although it wasn't actually offending, it was just optics/perception. There's a reason that the Dr. Pepper held that negative distinction, while Spike Network's AMERICA'S FIRST NETWORK FOR MEN stuff didn't.

I mean, not that this has ever been considered a master work of third wave feminism but: The season premiere of Flavor of Love 2 is loaded with bi and lesbophobia that makes all of the girls look terrible right out of the starting gate.

I know this is just for the 00's but we just had an Ancestry.com commercial romanticizing slavery. I get what they were going for and I don't think the commercial was made in malice, but it's tone deaf to the point of absurdity.

At least one black comedian has made a joke about those ancestry websites where there's a good chance any African-American will go far back enough in their family tree and see slaves. There's no avoiding it, because there's no avoiding history itself. Also, it's weird that it was in that particular one where the black guy looking back will give the stock quote of "I wish I could go back 100 or 200 years and meet them." He won't like what he sees depending on how far back he goes.

So... 9/11 affected the US in a way, and some things were made we'd rather not discuss.

So... 9/11 affected the US in a way, and some things were made we'd rather not discuss. Also, in the 80s thread I made a reference to the WTC or anything resembling 9/11 becoming taboo. So it shall be here too, as 2000/pre-Sept. 2001 stuff was affected, obviously. (Spider-Man trailer, several movies of the time, pretty much gutted Transformers: Robots in Disguise/Car Robots' run...) Didn't last, but worth mentioning of course.

Cringeworthy, yes, and moreso now that bodyshaming is a topic of discussion. But...as I said in the 80s thread, now it's the same crap, different turds. First, people still get size shamed, both famous and average, and it doesn't cause a firestorm like other forms of shaming and bullying (barring the consequences). Second, when certain people DO try and prove they size-accept, it comes off as paper thin....see: directors saying "See? We use plus-size actresses!"...only they use them for fatty falldown roles, see: Rebel Wilson and Melissa McCarthy.

Didn’t Dr. Pepper do a whole campaign with the tag line being, “It’s Not for Women”? Even more recent but kind of similar. In 2015 Bud had to apologize for an ad campaign encouraging drinkers to remove “no” from their vocabulary. I guess the ad people thought it was vague enough not to cause a stir, but plenty of people disagreed. Edit: Awe nuts beaten to it!
