Nah Kurt did it. lets not play that stupid game. Yeah....it is one urban legend I'd be OK about being true, though. Only because it would give me a legit reason to justify me strongly disliking Courtney Love. But that's neither here nor there. if you want to hate on Courtney Love there's plenty of legitimate reasons to do so that have nothing to do with a bullshit urban legend put forward by a known crank in El Duce.

I saw Ben Folds Five once in the early 2000s. Folds is in this weird situation where he's respected and doing fine with more of a cult fandom, but he had one very strange crossover to the mainstream. So midway through the concert, he says to the other guy, "So, what do you think? Time to play The Hit?" "Yeah, let's play The Hit." "Okay, it's time for The Hit everyone!" And then they played "Raindrops Keep Falling on my Head." They never played "Brick." Ha, I love their cover of Raindrops As long as they played at least a few tracks from WEAEA I would have left happy Some performers are like that. Seems it happens a lot with people who won Eurovision back in the day. Don't ask Lulu to talk about Boom Bang-a-Bang, nor Sandie Shaw about Puppet On A String. Petula Clark was like this with My Love, as she wouldn't sing it unless it was a reworked, slower version.

Fair enough.

Considering that song is based on tragedy (his IIRC then-girlfriend needing to get an abortion) I can understand why. I'm kinda torn here. I completely understand the song being a painful reminder and not exactly doing backflips over playing it. That said....you willingly wrote and released the song. For better or worse, it's how most of your fanbase knows you. I think it was much more that they hated the song after hearing and playing it so much. As far as I'm concerned, play "Philosophy" or "Stephen's Last Night In Town" a hundred times before you play "Brick."

I'm pretty sure Slash hates when people want to hear "Sweet Child Of Mine"
and I hear Mark Whalburg goes nuts if you call him Marky Mark

I'm pretty sure Slash hates when people want to hear "Sweet Child Of Mine" and I hear Mark Whalburg goes nuts if you call him Marky Mark The latter is somewhat legitimate. Dude has moved way, way past that. I’d be upset too if someone was bringing it up like “haha remember this embarrassing thing you did more than 20 years ago and have never revisited?”

I always wonder how many performers/bands who hate some of their biggest hits feel about the royalties they get from those songs

I’d be upset too if someone was bringing it up like “haha remember this embarrassing thing you did more than 20 years ago and have never revisited?” Almost 30 years ago now. And you’re right calling him “Marky Mark” is kind of an insult especially since he’s really successfully moved on from there
