Late '90s Game Show Network. They made a call-in revival of The Gong Show called "Extreme Gong" (because nineties...). The online game show fandom did NOT like the show and made it known on their community, at the time USENET's alt.tv.game-shows before it devolved into posts about Bill Cullen throwing potatoes at people. What resulted was a series of episodes where the announcer made fun of the group specifically. Can't locate video, but here's some posts about the incident... groups.google.com/forum/#!searchin/alt.tv.game-shows/extreme$20gong$20slammed%7Csort:date/alt.tv.game-shows/hPvaU13d08E/GtTLRHQNUUAJ groups.google.com/forum/#!msg/alt.tv.game-shows/m1t7HA1JW6k/QrKxB3YsmzYJ;context-place=msg/alt.tv.game-shows/hPvaU13d08E/GtTLRHQNUUAJ

Hate might not be the word here, but Adult Swim really loves to troll it's own fans. Like that time ATHF was coming out with it's own full-length movie in actual theaters, but Adult Swim announced it was airing it early love on Cartoon Network. They showed the full film in a small corner on the TV screen without the audio, while regular AS programming commenced on the full screen.

Few things give me more life than Twilight star Robert Pattinson's absolute disdain for everything Twilight.

That article sucked. Literally only one of those was lashing out at his fans.
Harmon lashed out at sexist trolls, Eminem lashed out at a political figure and his supporters, Ifns lashed out at geek culture, not his fans and I’d hardly call the manager of the Cubs in the early 80’s a celebrity.

Not that he exactly lashed out but Larry Thomas was kind of bummed about forever being the Soup Nazi. He felt he’d done better work and it was only one small paying job. He decided just to embrace it and all people wanted was for him to yell “NO SOUP FOR YOU!” at them. So, he makes a good living doing that.

Good lord, Ifans' rant was some serious ether. Was there anybody involved in the Twilight movies that liked being in a Twilight movie? Pattinson and Stewart spent virtually all their downtime on those movies getting stoned and f***ing like rabbits, so they found something to enjoy about those movies, at least.

Peter Dinklage has always come across a bit snobbish when talking about GoT fans.

Few things give me more life than Twilight star Robert Pattinson's absolute disdain for everything Twilight. he has given me one of my favourite quotes. he was doing an interview for a twilight movie (lord knows which one), and the interviewer asked him what similarities does he have with edward. robert pattinson shrugs and says "i guess we look the same."

I always find it hilarious that Rhys Ifans thought Spider-Man was an affront to his dignity after he appeared in 'Anonymous', possibly the least dignified film of all time. Your legacy is playing an literal Looney's upper class self-insert incestuous version of Shakespeare. The Lizard is a step up.

I definitely think the SPN guys have a maybe not hate but distain for a certain subset of their fanbase. SPN trolls the shit out of the shippers a lot.

I would say mid 80s Bob Dylan playing all his Christian songs and yelling at fans for wanting to hear his 60s songs and calling them heathens and all that is pretty up there. In general Bob seems to really hate his hardcore fans.

Lots of bands that got famous off one song are known for treating their fans looking for the one thing they know with disdain. I've a few play the opening chords and then go into something else.

The last time I saw Motorhead live, Ace of Spades was buried in the middle of the set list, and the only intro Lemmy gave it was "Here's the one f***ing song you all know."

Bands can play whatever they want on stage.. but that doesn’t mean they can get annoyed when the audience demand they play the classics.
The bands that do this are usually the older ones that charge hundreds to even thousands of dollars for a single concert ticket... the people that pay these exorbitant prices don’t want to hear the stuff from their shitty new album (which they only made to promote the tour)/.

Madonna faced that trope in the 2000s decade when she wouldn't perform enough of her 80s goodness, according to some fans.
