Not hurt, in his prime, you've helped make him a big star though could easily have made him bigger and you make the dude unhappy enough to just walk away. That's baffling to me.

I wonder how much THAT Brock match played a role in this. Even three years later, I still wouldn't blame him for being sour over it.

By not breaking his legs?
Bad joke aside, it really is indicative of a larger problem in that young guys who love the business don't want to work for WWE for tons of money. That must be the happiest place on earth to work at.

I wonder how much just letting him use the "Jon Moxley" name and "Explicit Mox Violence" phrase/image would have placated him.

I mean they apparently threw money at him. But he wasn't having it...
Screwing around with him and then giving him terrible shit like the heel turn to work with didn't help matters.

I actually haven't seen that interview yet, but from what I've read he came off... I don't want to say like a jerk, but very reserved. He's a pretty chill dude from everything I've heard, he just has no interest in doing some of the stuff asked of their top stars because he's a private guy and the top stars are expected to be pretty open when they do the media rounds.

The heel turn wasn’t the problem.
It was that stupid gas mask and the fur coat and the “YOU PEOPLE!” along with the ass injections and the “you people smell” promos.
They couldn’t have f***ed it up any harder if they tried.
Like why could they not just have him become a deranged lunatic like Brian Pullman? Is that so f***ing hard to do?

It's the ultimate consequence of "no one's bigger than the company" booking from Vince's paranoia of having another Rock or Lesnar get so big they leave to greener pastures. You have guys like Jon Moxley/Dean Ambrose who care more about the artform and the creative side of things than the money. You can recognize their talent and throw tons of money at them, but if you don't allow them the creative freedom, they're gonna walk in favor of somewhere that will.

Prichard said that one of Vince’s mantras is to “not let an unhappy camper ruin the atmosphere of the locker room”.
Problem is that apparently there are a lot of unhappy campers lol.

I stopped watching around this time but I’m sure he wasn’t happy that they used Roman’s leukemia for his heel turn.

They don't "get" him. He's too outside the box for the wrestling bubble people that make the final decisions.

It’s simple enough. Vince has the mentality that if you’re not happy there he doesn’t want you to be there either but I guess that’s starting to change now that he’s realizing that a whole lot of people don’t want to be there now.

Realistically I think they probably thought that *their* business/product wouldn't be any worse off without him, and without wishing to sound harsh they're probably right.
I appreciate they threw money at him, and could have kept him away from other promotions, but as his buddies are their 2 biggest stars and apparently happy, they perhaps thought it best to end things amicably, let him cool off and bring him back in a few years for the money of yet another Shield reunion.
Then again they might not be thinking that if he turns up at Double or Nothing in a couple weeks lol

He just said “no more”. You can see from the Moxley video the character he wants to play. His heel turn should have made him the absolute most hated person on the roster. Instead we got that whatever it was. Dude wants you to believe his wrestling persona is the real thing. He doesn’t want to be on a podcast with Austin talking about being “edgy”, he just wants to go be that guy in the ring and on interviews.
If he does go to AEW, he should come in and lay waste to the Elite in brutal fashion and become the top heel for the foreseeable future. He needs to show Vince what he let walk.

I still think the Bane cosplay was a great look and I wish he’d have kept it for the next month of his heel run.
Everything else about the heel turn was stupid as hell though.
